Neither of my weddings was expensive. We had our receptions (cake, coffee, etc.) in the church halls. I bought the material for my bridesmaids in the second wedding and they either made their dresses or had someone else do it for them (one sister made one for our friend in a wheelchair). I paid $100 for my first wedding gown and $90 for the second one. Both were very nice but the first one was a traditional wedding gown. The second was a tea-length ivory dress. I did the invitations for the second one myself and had them printed up by someone who actually didn’t charge me for them. My first marriage lasted only 25 years and the second one is on its 22nd. Don’t need fancy weddings for a marriage. Just do what you can afford without going into huge debt.

My stepmother insisted on a big wedding. We wanted something smaller and I also did it partly for my mom. My Dad also has some political and social standing so it was kind of a bit necessary in our area for us to have a big wedding and I am the only girl.

But 10 years on June 20th we’re very happy with 3 beautiful children.

The thing most people remember is my Dad paying tribute to my stepfather in his toast at the rehearsal dinner.

We had a rather large wedding party. My best friend since I was 8 was my maid of honor, I had 8 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. We had a best man, 8 groomsemen and 2 ring bearers.

We also had the whole enchilada Catholic mass. The thing I liked best about it is we were able to have our aunts and uncles be a part of the wedding by doing things. Both cases the aunt and uncle were like a second set of parents to us.
