She has Secret Service Protection as the former first lady and candidate. The Process Server wouldn’t be able to get within 30 feet of her.
Now, what about all these folks that grab Hillery's arm or hand to tell her their sad stories?
It would be easy to serve her papers. The process server can just go to the front of the rope line when she is signing autographs. Ask for an autograph, hand her the supeoana as if it where something to be signed, and just declare in from of thousands of witnesses that she has been served.
I could be wrong, but aren’t the SS agents sworn law enforcement officers? Despite this being a civil issue, aren’t they obligated to not interfere with the process service?
‘cept maybe at a rope line... with a blank envelope and a marker.. “Please can I get your autograph??? You’ve been served.”
Maybe not.....these folks spend their working lives serving people who do not want to be served. They can be very inventive.
Good luck to them!
The b***h has it coming.

I don’t know about California procedure, but everywhere in the civilized world it’s not necessary to serve a subpoena upon a party represented by counsel. Notice to the attorney is wholly sufficient.
Picture this. She's at the debate, and Obama walks across the podium and serves her, live on national TV. Would the SS stop him? Does her SS detail LIKE her enough to WANT to stop a piece of paper from getting to her? Could a SS agent be charged with obstruction of justice for preventing a piece of paper, which is not a physical threat, from getting to her?
I used to be a process server. 30 feet is a “reasonable distance” under the statute for a proper service. Especially if the incident is recorded on videotape, which is a high likelihood.
Also, the secret service personnel would be subject to arrest by the judge if they impede the service, so it’s all fun & games at this point.
There’s always alternative service, like mail and nail.
Perhaps they should ask Obama to serve her when they next meet for a debate. Imagine her suprise when she walks out to shake his hand and instead is given a subpoena. hehe
