I have received a lot of e-mail regarding Princeton's apparent decision to embargo Michelle Obama's college thesis. A few purported quotes have begun floating through the ether, which seems surprising if the Obamas have conspired to keep the paper buried at Princeton. The messages all seem to believe that the thesis contains something explosive, especially in terms of racial politics.
Maybe it does, and maybe it doesn't. Why would anyone be surprised if it did? To paraphrase one of the great lines from South Park, there's a time and a place for radical thought, and it's called college. Mrs. Obama wrote the paper 20 years ago, while living in the cocoon of academia. I doubt that it reflects her current state of mind.
It's not quite as bad as going back to Barack's kindergarten essays, but it's just about as irrelevant. Most importantly, Michelle Obama isn't the candidate. Her speeches on behalf of her husband now are relevant and fair game for criticism, but Mrs. Obama didn't write her college thesis as an argument for her future husband's election. When people dissected Hillary Clinton's thesis, it at least had some limited relevancy because of her own candidacy -- and even then reflected the state of mind of a woman in her early 20s, and not the state of mind of the same woman over 30 years later.
So far, Michelle Obama has given critics plenty of source material in the present campaign. Better to focus on that than to go on a silly spelunking tour of the college papers of someone who isn't running for office.
That too...
Nancy’s husband had already been elected, lol. And,she was HELPFUL to him, overall.
You know what I mean.
I guess you’re right, they can do whatever they want afterwards. I wish I would have known about the astrologer, I would have been able to direct my vote according to my horoscope. LOL!
Take your favorite Republican candidate, past or present, be it John McCain, Huckabee, Thompson, Romney, etc. Now, imagine that one of their wives wrote a scathing Anti-American, racist paper in college. That wouldn’t impact who you’re voting for?
And I’m not saying Obama’s wife did write such a paper, but why is Princeton being so protective all of a sudden, if there’s no reason to be?
When you can show me the spouse is pushing the president's policy buttons, sitting on a major cabinet post, or has decided to wear a burqa, then I'll do so.
Example, if I had known that Hills was going to develop the proposal for health care, I would have wanted to know her views. I wasn't voting for him anyway, but it should have been a campaign issue, against them.
They want to hide her Marxist views as much as his.
You nailed it.
If Michelle Obama’s thesis is no big deal, why is it on lock down?
Exactly. She spoke at a college bitching about hers and her husband’s student loans that she claimed would take years to repay had her brilliant husband not written two best selling books. She ranted about how poor off those seeking to be teachers or in the social field would be.
It was all a bash America, you deserve more right now speech.
I wouldn’t call her a skank, but I DO agree that she is going to be his undoing. She is quite class-less, actually, for being such an accomplished and intelligent professional. She needs to attend the Laura Bush Charm School to know how to act like a lady.
Watch Michelle Obama do the same thing, if Obama wins the Presidency.
I think you have to differentiate between which candidates spouses are really into politics and massive change, as the Obama's most certainly are.
Obviously, as you pointed out, Hillary was very political and wanting of power, otherwise she wouldn't have started all that health care BS way back in 1993, not long after Slick Willie was sworn in.
On the other hand, we didn't need to worry about Nancy Reagan or Laura Bush or Barbara Bush because they are not (or were not) as interested in changing the country as we know it as much as BOTH Barack Obama AND Michelle Obama are.
Nancy, Laura and Barbara were more less neutral throughout their husband's presidencies. They are not fanatics like Michelle Obama.
That's the difference.
She was alone in a world of whites? I hope not.

So, her thesis was based on black alumni.
Well, that settles it then. Let’s have the candidates provide background on their psychics.
I agree very much with your second paragraph. But I don't trust them to tell us in advance.
