California recently passed legislation that requires all guns manufactured after 2010 to contain a code or imprint that would trace bullets fired back to the gun, the owner and the dealer.
In these "free victim zone" killings, wouldn't it be much easier just to trace the blood trail back to the guy holding the gun and with half a head left to find out who bought the gun?

“The need to carry a concealed weapon is because others too can carry a weapon, if another person might have a gun, you’d better be prepared to protect yourself with yours.”
Faulty logic, contrary to direct experience. It assumes that everyone is irresponsible or a criminal. It assumes that 911 is the solution. The problem is in a part a justice system overprotective of criminal rights that releases dangerous felons too early and too often into the general populace. Wherever responsible people carry weapons, gun crime goes down.Change the words 'others' and 'another person' to criminal(s) and he'd have it right. Also needs to watch his comma splices.

“California recently passed legislation that requires all guns manufactured after 2010 to contain a code or imprint that would trace bullets fired back to the gun, the owner and the dealer. This smart gun legislation could gain bipartisan support if taken to the federal level”
This was tried once before ( I believe it was in California then, too) Proved to be totally unmanageable and impossible to enforce before it became law.

Spoken by someone with absolutely no understanding of ballistics or perhaps even physics.
Terrifying.

California tried this years ago and dropped it. Totally unmanageable and impossible to enforce.

A gun free zone is a shooting gallery for nuts. Their not so crazy to go where people actually are carrying.

"California recently passed legislation that requires all guns manufactured after 2010 to contain a code or imprint that would trace bullets fired back to the gun, the owner and the dealer."
So after the perp has killed how ever many people, we can trace the bullets back to his gun. So what? How does this bring the people he killed back from the dead? Will the killer be stopped, thinking "gee, they may trace this back to me, I better not go through with the massacre".

Good point. It’s an idiot concept.
Then again, how about hunters and gun aficionados who load their own ammunition. They’re not the type to turn around and bend over on command.

Concise.
Mind if I borrow that.
Gets to the point.
