McCain? No Way!
by Sen. HL "Bill" Richardson (ret.)
Chairman of the Board, GOA

Americans are being told by the mainstream media that conservatives have no other choice than to back the hypocrite from Arizona. All that is required is to pretend he is "really" a conservative. "So, crawl under the big Republican tent and vote for McCain," we are told. "Besides, what other choice do you have?"

We have plenty of choices, none of which calls for casting our vote for the lesser of two presidential evils.

First, the Republican race isn't over. Huckabee is still around and as Kansas and Louisiana should point out, the Romney vote flocked to Huckabee. Not that they loved Huckabee, but that they have zero trust in the promises of McCain. Even if Huckabee loses, what makes anyone think conservatives will vote for McCain?

Don't you liberals get it? The republican conservative believes McCain would be a vindictive president. He's proven his dislike for conservatives and would gut us at every opportunity.

Why do I say that? Because of three decades of experience as a Republican California Senator and a fifty year activist in the conservative movement. I have first hand, in-their-face experience with elitist RINO's (Republican in Name Only) office holders. They are biblically ignorant, power hungry, status seeking egotists who have no difficulty aiding their liberal Democrat colleagues whenever their arms are politely twisted. The one thing they have in common with liberal Democrats is their dislike of all conservatives, especially those who are Bible-believing. McCain, as president, would stifle the voices of elected Republican leaders and try to legislate the conservative movement out of existence.

There is no reason why any conservative should be depressed, especially if they look at past history. I clearly remember the political climate in 1964. We newly-awakened conservatives had a real friend running for the Republican nomination. Barry Goldwater defeated a liberal Republican in the primaries, but in the general election, the mainstream media slaughtered him. In 1964 it was easy to do; we had no effective political action committees, no conservative organizations, few pro-life activists, little religious participation, no talk radio, a handful of articulate conservative legislators, no fax machines and zero Internet. After the 1964 November election, all looked hopeless. Not a bright star on the horizon....But!

In 1966, we conservatives elected an actor as Governor of California. I was elected to the State Senate. The thespian and I were greener than grass but we were both quick to learn. Ron Reagan became a national star, a conservative leader in the nation’s most popular state. He couldn't be ignored.

I founded Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners of California. We became the second largest pro-Second Amendment organization in America with membership in the hundreds of thousands. We concentrated our efforts on electing pro-gunners to the legislature and stopping anti-gun legislation. We grew rapidly and were quite successful. During liberal Jerry Brown's eight years as governor, not a single anti-gun bill was signed into law. The reason was simple -- although the liberal Democrats controlled both houses of the legislature, no anti-gun legislation passed from either house to find its way to the Governor’s desk.

The entire gun movement is close to accomplishing that feat on a national level. As long as the gun community hangs together, it will make little difference on gun issues who is sitting in the White House. The same could be true of other major conservative organizations as long as they stay in the fight. We are much better off than in 1964 and much better organized.

The other good news is that some of the weak-sister Republicans are leaving office -- not willing to scrap it out with the liberal Democrats. Hooray, happy to see you go! Call Gun Owners if you need a ride out of town. We have an opportunity to replace them with tough, no nonsense conservatives. Already, some very fine men are seeking these vacancies.

We at Gun Owners intend to be very engaged in Congressional and US Senate races.

I personally will not cast a vote for the presidency -- that is, if McCain is the Republican nominee. Under no circumstances will I vote for either of the Democrats. This will be the first time in fifty years that I have made this choice. I hope it will be the last.

McCain is THE leader in the Senate on Global Warming legislation. No one has or is doing more substantive legislative work on that. Same with Amnesty, same with CFR. McCain has taken a back seat to no Dem on those and other liberal issues.

A fact his new supporters refuse to acknowledge.

Now there's a lullaby to rock yourself to sleep by.

LOL! I don't think I could sleep listening to that lullaby. ;o)

Who would have thought that we'd be faced with 3 of the most liberal politicians in the US as our choices for President? Every day when I wake up I keep asking myself how in the heck did we allow ourselves to get into this mess to begin with, but I know this. As much as I HATE McCain, what I feel for Hillary and Obama is much, much worse. At least McCain is a fiscal conservative. I can't think of ANY good qualities Hillary or Obama have. The sad fact is that one of them is going to be the next President.

Stock up on guns and lots of ammo!

This struck me as cogent:

Your party is about to nominate a complete loser.

He's too old.

He's too liberal.

He's too angry.

He's too poorly spoken.

He's too stupid to even try to appeal to the party base.He spends eight years attacking conservatives and then expects us to bail him out.

The GOP is going to get routed this November because the best they could put forth is an angry old man completely devoid of philosophical underpinnings.

Stop trying with the guilt trips. When McCain goes down to defeat the blame will be entirely on McCain.

The above is a stand-alone Martin Luther enumeration nailed to the cathedral doors.

My own quick code is:

Elsewhere is noted the ubiquitous McCain as unindicted coconspirator with Feingold, Kennedy, Lieberman, Edwards.

The man's a Soros-sock-puppet and the most dangerous enemy of the First Amendment, the mother of all the amendments--your freedom of political speech.

That he will gleefully sign the Fairness Doctrine and will arrogantly open the Mexican floodgate are but two vile certainties not open to dispute.

That for him the greater enemy in the extant "war on terror" is the American fighting man and his "torture" of detainees should be a bracing slap in the face, not that he finds it politically expedient to wrap himself in the flag.

He is in an embrace with Hillary Rodham Mao, and threw himself into John Kerry's dressing room in 2004 begging to be taken along on the tour as a gushing groupie.

The yammering to drink the McKoolaid is about as annoying as the didactic dogmatic discipline of the Dominatrix from Chappaqua.

Do I really want a president who will put the islamojihadi murderers under the umbrella of the Constitution my great to the fifth fought King George for?

John McCain despises the constitution and conservatives, despises citizens and taxpayers, is ready to sacrifice all of us on the altar of global warming, the Mexican tsunami, the Fairness Doctrine--and, as for the fighting man, the ICC.

Hussein the Twelfth Imam, Frau Mao, or the McChurian Sock Puppet of Soros.

I don't live in a gated community or a high-rise with a doorman, and I'm not trying to get a McCain Administration to hire me.

We NEED a Poster:

Top Header in bold white typeface: MAD-DOG McCAIN

Black & white Graphic: McCain in 1928 gangster duds and fedora, holding a Tommy Gun and blasting away the Constitution pinned up on a brick wall (Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre).

Bottom Header in bold red typeface: US CONSTITUTION: DEAD ON ARRIVAL

Anyone able to do this? I’ll make copies and canvas Nebraska from Scott’s Bluff to Omaha

There’s nothing “let” about it. Obama WILL destroy McCain. You’re wasting your energy pretending otherwise.

The Kristols---pere and fils---and their crowd---are cheerleaders for some of the current admin's most failed polices---INCLUDING the amnesty atrocity. The Kristol crowd also backed abortion worshipping, gun grabbing, gay lover RINO Giuliani. When Giuliani kept tanking, Billy's daddy called him and said, "Hurry up and do something Billy, or I'll take the magazine away from you." Little Billy had to act fast----so Billy called all the neos and clued them in---Giuliani's 15 minutes were up.

"The lisping sucker won only one delegate, after all we did for him," Kristol whined. "The zipless wonder married a whore who wanted to sit in on Cabinet meetings, fer God's sake."

So Kristol showed McCain the Queen of Diamonds.

Now everybody was on the same page---the neos were switching to All-McCain, All The Time----just as long as McCain said something nice about a Hundred Year War in the Mideast at least once a day.

Get a clue. We're not like children who will go along with anyone just because they have an 'R' by their name. McCain is nothing more than a self-centered little puke who will run this country, & whatever is left of the Republican party if he becomes president, into the ground. Get ready to lose more of your freedoms if this little fascist becomes out next president.

Nobody will be worse for this country than McCaine.

It's not childish to stand for what you believe in.

It's like this, Huck. I got Obama and McCain outside my front door. McCain is begging to come in and wants the keys to the house saying he is "one of us." Now, I've been fighting the Obama-type for years and I know what he is. Ain't no chance he's getting onto my front porch. McCain? Well, I let him in the house a couple times and he robbed me blind. So, what to do now? Slam the door in both their faces, retreat to the basement with my compatriots, gather the political artillery necessary to fight back against liberalism, and re-surface with force! Giving McCain the keys to the house is just surrender.

Giga-dittos to what you said, calcowgirl! And, as Mojave observed, it is indeed better to have the enemy in your sights than in your foxhole. Letting McCain into our foxhole only assures that he'll be complicit in our being overrun by the liberal agenda.

Exactly right. Because, as has been noted up thread, whatever agenda McRino wants implemented, it would be rubber-stamped by the RINOs and all who have a letter "R" after their name because McShamnesty is a "Republican" president and he's a "conservative." No fights, no nothing, just rubber stamping LIBERAL DEMOCRAT policies, bills, treaties, and judicial appointments.

1) I am not a "McCain supporter" .... I am a supporter of America something neither Obama or Hillary are. I am voting Against Obama or Hillary not FOR McCain....

No better reason for my vote than this latest article on Obama and Hillary's minions going to the Middle East to do some meddling.

Is an October Surrender in the Making?

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/02/is_an_october_surrender_in_the.html

I am looking at a balance sheet and McCain wins on the overall balance sheet.... but, by all means, shoot the country in the foot and write in someone else or just be intellectually honest and vote for the Obama and proudly proclaim why you are supporting him over love of your country.... because this country will never be the same when his term is up.

with the Kings who have been given the keys to the house

If you truly believe that then you didn’t pay attention during eight years of Clinton — Hillary makes him look like a piper..... Read the books!!!!! Obama is a proud Socialist..... I haven’t heard McCain say he is going to take over preparing our tax returns FOR us or that he is going to take tax dollars from the rich to reward the poor with matching funds for saving.... if that is the country you believe in then you are a democrat, not a republican.

Mighty big words from the safety of a keyboard. Got any more lame arse insults?

It’s not about “my way”...it’s about the United States Constitution, John McCain violating it...and violating his oath of office. Awwwww...but then you wouldn’t have your pathetic insults to throw around.
What part of “John McCain violated the Constitution I swore to defend” do you not understand?

Is it the fact that it’s typed in plain english that you just don’t “get it” and feel like you have to make shi’ite up to throw around lame arse insults??

Some of us actually care about the Constitution and getting rid of those that violate it and their oath of office.

Some do not.
