BOYCOTT BERKELEY (start of ping list;)
Drango | 2/16/08 | Drango

Posted on 02/16/2008 12:29:39 PM PST by Drango

I started to make a list of Berkeley firms to boycott. I don’t lightly believe that firms should pay the economic price for their city council views, but these firms are the enablers of one of the most repugnant regimes in our history and they unfortunately will be innocent casualties in the campaign. The city could not run without their tax dollars. Thus the boycott is on!

Obviously the German run Bayer, Berkeley’s largest corporate job source is a top choice. http://www.bayerus.com/communities/berkeley/index.html

OK how does a boycott work in practice? Let’s use sightspeed as an example. First we dig for information. Here is what 10 minuets of hunting got me. What can others dig up? http://www.sightspeed.com/business/customers

dig, dig, dig… http://digitalmediaupdate.blogspot.com/2007/10/sightspeed-open-for-business-sightspeed.html

Peter D. Csathy email: pcsathy@sightspeed.com; CEO of SightSpeed Inc. (www.sightspeed.com); …. live ….., in sunny San Diego, California; …)

Second we email all the principals. A polite letter. State our case. Ask them to leave Berkeley. Repeat. CC to the Mayor, Chamber of Commerce and the press. We FIRMLY ask them to leave Berkeley. If there is no response we escalate. Email their customers. Escalate. Perhaps we put boots on the ground and picket.

Polite, dignified and steady pressure. Times 10. Times 100. If you are interested please bump this thread or Freepmail me. Eagles up.

A side note: I don’t believe snark or extremely hot rhetoric will achieve what we want. It’s fun to blow off steam here, real fun, but the economic boycott should be above that to achieve success. There are perhaps 100 other Berkeley firms that we need to email or call. From emailing Hilton and asking them to sell the Doubletree at the Berkeley marina, to asking associations not to have a meeting at HS Lordships http://www.hslordships.com/

Let's partner with MoveAmericaForward, GOE, HotAir, LGF and others. Who’s in?

The problem with boycotts of this nature is that they only hurt those who are actually productive.

Well it's time for those who are actually productive to tell those who have nothing better to do than harass our Marines to GO TO HELL! Productive people are this country's backbone. They know how to thrive. It's called: "work".

It was called the Silent Majority.

No, the "silent majority" was US!

The conservatives of the day just kept silent. It's a new day, now. The days of the "Country Club Republicans" are over!

Today's conservatives are of a totally new mindset. Today's conservatives AREN'T GOING TO PUT UP WITH THIS CRAP ANYMORE! We aren't afraid to stand face to face with the socialist morons who couldn't care less about what happens to this nation.

To the liberals and the RINOS we now say: "Bring it on!...... and clean up the mess yourselves."

Bayer is no different than any other aspirin. What you’re paying more for is the name, “Bayer”.

Look it up. Bayer doesn’t have a patent on ASA. (Acetylsalisilic acid). Any drugstore brand you can buy is exactly the same thing.

It’s the same with “Tylenol”. Some folks think that off brands aren’t the same thing. LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS on the bottles. It’s all acetaminophen. You just pay more for the brand name.

DRAFT letter to SightSpeed....Peter’s email is in post #1. Please write your own letter if you are so inclined. 5 or 50 or 500 letters are better than one. Next week we escalate.

Please ask to be on or off the BOYCOTT BERKELEY ping list

**** DRAFT*****

2/17/08

Peter D. Csathy
CEO Sightspeed
Berkeley, CA
Via email

Dear Peter-
By now, most of the world and you know that the Berkeley City Council has chosen to insult the Marines and all our servicemen and women. During the contentious meeting last week, several people publicly advised them to change course or face a boycott.

I note that your firm is in Berkeley, but you live in San Diego. Please move Sightspeed. I would like to make it clear that we harbor no animosity to Sightspeed, you, or any individual at your firm. In fact we want you to thrive. We just want you to succeed outside of Berkeley and to stop enabling, via you tax dollars, a city council that is intolerant and hates our military.

Please move.

I should note that over 20 thousand Americans signed a petition objecting to your odious city council behavior. Our wish is that Sightspeed not pay an economic price for a City Council that seems to have little common sense. Please move outside of Berkeley ASAP so that a boycott does not impact your bottom line.

Sincerely,

Drango

I have two grandsons serving. I will not allow Code Pink to win. Period.

Berkeley should be “sanitized.”

Hay Drango buddy

Please ask to be on or off the BOYCOTT BERKELEY ping list

I see you added me, although maybe just temporarily.

I would like to not be on the list, because I can find this thead anytime I need to.

Thanks

Oh, here is a "victory" picture from the event Tuesday in Berkeley:

Zanne Joi, left, Rae Abileah, Laurence Schechtman and Phoebe Sorgen all from Berkeley, celebrate the Berkeley City Council vote for not to apoligize to the U.S. Marines recruiters during the meeting that ended after 1:00 am on Wednesday Feb. 13, 2008 at the Old City Hall in Berkeley, Calif. (Ray Chavez/The Oakland Tribune)

There are some things I will discuss with you privately when I have time.

Some info on one of the code pinko mucky mucks:

The “Code Pink” spokesperson, Phoebe Sorgen, is also a District 4 member of the damned P&J Commission. I don’t see where she recrused herself from voting on the resolution to allow them to have the space to harass the recruiting office.

The commission’s vote was unanimous with 5 members absent. Code Pinko wasn’t one of them.

The council should be ashamed. The city should be embarrassed.

BUMP

This is my first post at FreeRepulic.com

I’m all over any effort to Boycott Berkeley. I don’t live anywhere near Cali, but I do a lot of internet business and I’ll be checking addresses for sure.

In my book what they’ve done is treason as outlined in the Constitution (that they claim to stand behind). Maybe no one in Berkeley has read past the First Amendment?

What I cannot understand is why Gov. Schwarzenegger hasn’t denounced the Berkeley City Council.

As for the Chamber of Commerce letter... if most of the business owners do not live in Berkeley, and therefore can not vote in Berkeley, that sould give them enough reason to leave.
