Obama's easy path to the Senate...

Posted on 02/15/2008 1:43:08 PM PST by RDasher

Amazingly Obama's has had a remarkably easy path to the Senate...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/... - "There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city's South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama's four Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot." Now Unopposed in Primary

http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Barack_Obama - "Obama was elected unopposed to the Illinois State Senate in 1996 representing the 13th District, comprising the university neighborhood of Hyde Park in south Chicago." Unopposed in General Election

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/... - "Obama is vying for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, who is not seeking re-election." Open Seat

< HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Illinois,_2004">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... - "In early polls leading up to the March 16, 2004, primary election, candidate Blair Hull enjoyed a substantial lead and widespread name recognition resulting from a well-financed advertisement effort." Then ironically scandal took out Blair Hull. -- Unopposed in Primary

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... - "As a result, many Republicans questioned Ryan's integrity following the release[citation needed], and he dropped out of the race on June 25, 2004, leaving Obama without an opponent." -- Unopposed now

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Keyes - On August 8, 2004 – with 86 days to go before the general election – the Illinois Republican Party drafted Alan Keyes to run against Democrat Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate, after the Republican nominee, Jack Ryan, withdrew due to a sex scandal, and other potential draftees (most notably former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka) declined to run. -- Token Challenger

He is either a very fortunate opportunist, or has some powerful backers that enable him to run unopposed so often.

I’m going with opportunist, but what do I know.

This is correct. His senate seat was bought and paid for by George Soros.

And I’m - “with backers”. It takes lots of power and influence to get courts to violate privacy of a family on behave of a third party. They did it twice - when Obama was competing for IL senate and later for US Senate seats.

This reminds me ....My husband and I were watching television last night and saw a powerball commercial talking about how high the jackpot is. We started talking about what we'd do with the money if we won....and I said I'd buy a Senator or two.

In all seriousness, one has to wonder why George Soros has his fingers in so many different governments.

Actually they did it twice in the Senate race. First against Hull (primary) then against Fitzgerald (general).

Be quiet, the OBAMAMANIA is not going to like the general election when this prick gets hammered for being a naive Marxist with Muslim forbears!

Good work. I didn’t know about the pre-2004 stuff, but I watched the 2004 race thinking either Obama must be the luckiest guy in the world, or there is some serious behind-the-scenes work going on here.

Interesting, especially when I stop to consider if it wasn't for the Clinton Machine, the Democrat nomination might have been another cake walk for him.

Surely the Clintons will throw everything they have at him; will anything stick? Before it's over, BHO's teflon coating might make Slick Willie look like fly paper, in comparison.

Soros is a one-world meglomaniac. Obama is just the highest profile of any of his properties. He also owns our local congress critter (neighboring district) Jason Altmeier.

His hordes of hired foot soldiers descended on the district in October 2006 and they ran ads 24/7 in the Pittsburgh television market attacking Melissa Hart, a likable and fairly moderate congresswoman, 1 of 6 districts in the Pittsburgh regional market.

There is no way Altmeier could have afforded that kind of media saturation (1/6th effective) on his own.

A winning powerball ticket won't buy you a senator in a big state like Illinois. Maybe a congressperson or a senator in a small market state like Montana.

How did he vote against the Iraq War if he wasn’t elected to the Senate until 2004?

Hillary keeps trying to make the same point. He WASN’T in the Senate to vote against the Iraq War.

Obama didn’t not support the war before he didn’t support the war, while Hillary did support the war before she didn’t.

Didn't say he did, But if I were in the Senate then, I am confident in which was he would have voted.

Is Barack Obama the Messiah?
"... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama" - Barack Obama Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Mike Ditka could have stopped this.

You can be certain, there will be people behind Obama pulling the strings! The American public will get dupped by Soros and his ilk (all who owe him thier seat in office).

This says more about the state of the Republican party than it does about Obama.

"..Jack Ryan, withdrew due to a sex scandal,..."

His link to the Obama story is the biggest history he will make. He was the only one with a chance to stop him becoming a US Senator.
