A reliable source informs me that backers of the growing movement to draft Tom McClintock into the 4th CD GOP primary have conducted a poll showing that Tom would dominate the primary field.
I am told the poll showed a three way primary of McClintock, Ose, and Oller would fall as follows:
McClintock - 44 Ose - 11 Oller - 6
As most insiders know, while Tom represents Ventura County, he maintains a residence here in Northern California and his family spends quite a bit of time here. Furthermore, because of his statewide campaigns and leadership on a number of issues, McClintock has true, statewide name ID. I would venture that Tom McClintock would poll well in a GOP primary in virtually every District in the state.
Clearly, this poll is intended by McClintock backers to entice him into the race. My source says that the folks who did the poll conducted it without Tom's knowledge. That may or may not be the case. It's either a well-orchestrated move, or a genuine attempt to "Draft" him into the race, but there is no doubt he would be a formidable, perhaps field-clearing candidate, if he indeed jumped in.
The release of this poll is supposedly imminent, so we will know more soon.
Run, Tom, Run! We need all the conservatives we can get to fight whatever liberal is going to be in the White House.
Hopefully, Tom will run his campaign better than he did the Recall where he was a disaster.
He is a true conservative. He’d make a great president someday.
What an embarassment of riches here on the ground in the 4th District! Anyone of these guys would be great. My preference in order: McClintock, Eagland, Oller, Ose. The heart of the district, Placer County, was 53.9% Republican last I checked. Highest in the State. Last time’s loser, Charlie Brown, a genuine card-carrying member of the ACLU, essentially never stopped running and is presumed to be the dem nominee this time as well. I had the pleasure of heckling him at the 4th of July parade.

I support Tom but I also support Term Limits.
Tom, go get a real job. If Perada did this we would be furious.
I wish him luck.
Given a choice it’s clearly McClintock. Is Doug Ose considering running? He was the former Congressman in my district, suburbs south and east of Sacrmento, until he supposedly retired. Oller is another “non-resident” of CD4. He ran in the GOP primary against another carpet bagger, eventual winner, Dan Lundgren in my district when Ose retired. Oller when in the state legislature was a good GOPer but Ose and Lundgren are perhaps in RINO territory. Ose’s sister Mary try to replace her brother but she was a RINO for sure and bombed out despite spending some serious money. I am glad that corrupt scumbag Doolittle is finally getting the message. He had a nice racket of using his wife who ran a business raising funds for him so he got a direct cut of campaign contributions.
GOOD LUCK TOM!!!
Tom is so above-board in everything he does, running against Gallegly wouldn't have that unseemly "carpetbagger" feel to it that a race in the 4th CD would have.
McClintock Ping List.
Please freepmail me if you want on or off this list
As to Tom,
McClintock for Governor 2010
Sounds good to me but who holds the seat now?
You know we are talking Washington DC type congressional district...
BTTT
Tom’s never been in the US House of Representatives.
Go Tom! We need Republicans like him in Washington.
I will be voting for Eric Egland in CD4.
Nope, my bad. Tom’s a 10 amendment kinda guy I did not figure him to go to DC.
