U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem
Yes and I will never forget that.
I was just talking to my husband about that.
The US Navy named a destroyer in honor of Petty Officer Stethem.
Robert Dean Stethem SW-2 (Diver), United States Navy
This young Navy diver was returning from an assignment in the Middle East when the commercial jet on which he was a passenger was hijacked by terrorists. He was shot to death, after being tortured, by the terrorists on June 15, 1985. He is buried in Section 59 of Arlington National Cemtery, near a number of other Americans who were victims of worldwide terrorism.
Stethem was targeted because he was part of the U.S. military. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. In 1995, the newly commissioned destroyer was named for him.

Bless Mr. Stethem and his family as well as all the other victims of this notorious murderer. Interesting that Damascus which Israel’s current crop of traitors who run the country want to surrender the Golan to was his home.
I feel a bit of kinship to Robert Stethem. I, too, was a U.S. Navy Diver, though a few years earlier than Robert. There are/were several different classification of Navy Divers. We were both Second Class Divers (SCUBA and Hardhat Diving - Salvage and Repair work).
Indeed! This is such good news..Another terrorist bites the dust!
