Gee, maybe I’ve been smart? I haven’t worked for the last 20 years. Only worked 4 years in my life. I got married and stayed home to raise children. That’s almost done. I receive my annual ss review and it says I’m not eligible for anything. Hubby retires in 2 years and will receive ss. I’ll live off his generous ss when he kicks the bucket. I win either way.

For you X’rs.....just thought of this....My husband and I SAVE about 30% of our NET pay per year....and have been for a while....so that we won’t have to RELY on SS....now, granted, we haven’t had to put any children through college, so that helps....but, just so you know....YOU CAN DO IT (on one salary, too.)

I wish they’d direct deposit the $180,000 I’ve donated to S.S. and Medicare so far into my checking account. The lost compound interest would be a big plus too.

As a side note concerning SS,
this post (<-click), although addressing a tax related thread, tells why FDR's New Deal programs like SS are constitutionally unauthorized.

2017 is my year. I doubt I’ll collect as much as if I had invested the money.

November 14th, 2008, my wife is going after hers before the accounts run dry. I have a couple of years yet, but do not really expect much to be there, unless the Marxists keep their promises to us, and tax all those evil rich into the ground and there are a few bucks left by then.

For a really good rant on this article, go to www.daveramsey.com and listen to his archives. He discusses this artical on Wednesday’s show (2/13) at about 1 hour and 28 minutes. My favorite quote is, “Mathematically, it is enough to make you gag for days.”
