You want to think very long and very hard about inviting the Bear in next door. Believe me Orthodoxy is not what drives Putin and his thugs. It’s raw power.
What matter of political maturity do you have?
For the last nine years, while over 150 Serbian Orthodox churches were destroyed in Kosovo and thousands of Serbs and other non-Albanians were being killed or driven out of Kosovo right under the the nose of KFOR and NATO, Russia had nothing to do with this argument. Bush & Condi were just, "Lalala. We LOVE the Muslim Albanians no matter what they do and we are going to give them independence". It wasn't until Russia said to the US, "Bull. What you are doing is illegal and immoral", that the news media even paid attention.
If you think that I or anyone else here wants to say, "The Russians are right and we (the US) is wrong on Kosovo", think again. I am ashamed that my own government would take such a horrific stand, killing Christians and stealing territory from another country to give to Muslims, as though we are some sort of Empire who can do what it wishes, for whom it wishes, irrespective of international law and even our own national interests! It is embarrassing that we allowed ourselves to be put in the position of the Russians being on the legal and moral high ground, while we are standing in a veritable moral and legal pit on Kosovo! But if we want to get out of this "pit", then we have to quit digging and start climbing. Instead, all that Bush is doing is "bringing in the heavy drilling equipment" and making it far worse!

One of my uncles, a fighter against the Stalinist KKE and the communist run EAM/ELAS in the Greek civil war always talked about the “tender embrace” of the Bear, something Greeks have been wary of ever since Moscow first started calling itself the “Third Rome”. But aside from the post 1917 era, Russia, kept at arm’s length, has in fact been a protector of Orthodoxy in the Balkans. It may well become that again, by default this time.
BTW, those communists came to our village and hung a person from every branch of every tree in the town square and then desecrated our church. The trick today of course is to avoid the embrace of the bear better than we did in the late 1940s.
The Serbs have their backs up against the wall while NATO supports the thugs who behead innocent civilians.
Who else can they turn to and whose fault is that?
