In my mat that means he is a LONG way away from what he needs. It isn't simply math. Based on the remaining states. Which include some split states where McCain will get some delegates unless Huckabee wins with 64% or so of the vote, McCain gets his 300+ delegate way before Huckabee gets his 900+.

I do understand that but if the vote simply coalesces around a more conservative candidate then McCains reversal of fortunes could be dramatic and telling. If McCain does win the priary we are sunk but at least we won't be blamed for his whitehouse performance. He doesn't stand a chance in my book. He will be Dole redone.
