I pointed some of this out to my son over time... For some reason, he felt it was worth it to join the Marines, and he ended up giving his life. He made a difference while he could. Now it’s up to the rest of us, if it’s worth the bother.

I will point out that in 1775 those who favored self governance were a minority as well. British loyalists were greater in number, and the bulk of the populace was apathetic. The situation hasn't changed, and can still be overcome with the same sacrifice and perseverance.
