WASHINGTON (AP) - An Associated Press-Ipsos poll shows Democrat Barack Obama would narrowly defeat John McCain if the presidential election were being held now. If Hillary Rodham Clinton were the Democratic nominee, she and the Republican front-runner would be about even.
The AP-Ipsos poll, released Monday, is an initial look at voter sentiment since the Super Tuesday contests last week. In the poll, Illinois senator Obama leads McCain 48 percent to 42 percent. New York senator Clinton gets 46 percent to 45 percent for McCain.

Bad news for McCain because he can't rely on the STOP HILLARY EXPRESS to win. With Obama as the nominee, his popularity combine with the willingness of Conservative to sit-out an Obama/McCain race, McCain will have to earn the conservative vote. His Veep will have to be from the south and conservative. I'm thinking Gov. Mark Sanford of SC. He is a "maverick" but conservative.

I'm thinking Gov. Mark Sanford of SC. He is a "maverick" but conservative. He has stood up well to the RINOs in the SC Legislature. That does make him a maverick (the good kind).

Barack is riding the “Big Mo” at the moment, and he has the Clintonistas ready willing and able to stick it to him at the Dhimmi Convention, as neither he, nor Hilde will ever reach the required 2,100 or so delegates, even if Huessein sweeps the remaining states, it still will not equal 2,100.
I’m somewhat surprised that Mad John is even within shouting distance of Huessein at this point in time.

Indeed, Sanford is like Ron Paul with realism and charisma. Or like I said in another post (this Free Republic thing is addicting!) he could be the Reagan to Paul’s Goldwater.

Sure does,,You Said It in English,, Figure it Out,,Say It , Hell , I said it ,,What on earth does ",," mean, for heaven's sake? For what conceivable reason is virtually every last word in your glossolaliac little spewing pointlessly capitalized?
Seriously, kiddo; bilingual, I ain't. Either post something in my native tongue (which happens to be english)... or else simply resolve yourself to disappointment, I s'pose.

Did you ever wonder why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson don’t get real meaty political roles? (Shadow Senator from the District of Columbia is the highest role so far). They don’t throw any real support to the political machine of the Democratic party.
If conservatives sit this race out, they’ll lose more than the Presidency. They’ll lose more Senate seats. They’ll lose more House seats. A Democratic President will make sure Roe v. Wade stays the law of the land for decades more.
Go ahead and threaten to sit on your butts because John McCain is the nominee. Remember if you don’t participate, you’re not likely to force the party to the right—politicians will go with the ones actively showing support, not threatening dire circumstances.

Nope...has to be either a black, or a woman....or both.... While we're at it, let's pick a Black, female, handicapped dwarf that is "intellectually challenged?" If we put up a candidate like that, the Democrats will have no choice but to concede! /sarc

Did you ever wonder why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson dont get real meaty political roles? I'm wondering what Jesse's role will be in a Obama Administration. Although Jesse and Obama are both from Chicago, Jesse's kept pretty quiet up to now. I guess the plan is to keep Rev. Al and Jesse out of the way so they don't "spook" Whitey.
