How conservative is Mr. McCain? During his quarter century in Washington, the senator has assembled an 82% rating from the American Conservative Union, placing him 39th among senators in 2006, while drawing a 25% lifetime rating from the liberal American Civil Liberties Union. Hillary Clinton, by contrast, has a 75% ACLU lifetime rating. A scorecard by the antitax Club for Growth, a conservative political-action committee, ranked him 29th among 55 Republican senators in 2006.

McCain is trying to appeal to another part of the political spectrum. He still cares about us. We are still loved by him because he knows it was conservatives who stood behind him and Vets like him during the Viet Nam War. He will carry a debt of gratitude to us for it. And, last night in Seattle he showed us the bracelet he wears given to him by one of our own (a conservative) to daily remember a son who died in Iraq for our freedom.

Now McCain is wooing the independent vote. This is a delicate effort. Sort of like a courtship. This is beyond politics 101. It is high tech politics. The independent vote is needed if we are to take out the DemonRATs. This has been a calculated effort going on for a long time. And during that process, we have been calling him Mccinsane for his strategery. However, the huge numbers he has been enjoying have come largely from the independents. These votes will be money in the bank when it comes November.

If McCain picks a great VEEP like say, NEWT GINGRICH, then I believe he can pull in the conservative vote. Newt is a solid, smart conservative who would be a good VP for MCain.

If it were 1992 McCain-Gingrich would have been a heck of a ticket, so superior to what the Republicans offered with Bush-Quayle. I would have loved to see Gingrich run circles around that Stockdale guy and Al Gore in the debates.

I haven’t had a chance to vote in the primaries and, as I said, I am likely to vote for Romney or Huckabee. But that probably won’t change the outcome.

Our choice is therefore not Romney vs. Clinton, or Huckabee vs. Clinton, but McCain vs. Clinton. I would rather have a RINO than a left wing collectivist like Clinton (or Obama).

McCain is not identical to the Democrats. His ADA rating is 10-35%, but Clinton's and Obama's are consistently 95-100%. He does not support gun control (Clinton and Obama do) and he does not support socialized medicine as Clinton does. I do not agree with him on global warming, but Clinton and Obama agree with cap-and-trade and similar garbage, so there they are at best equal. I didn't say to vote for McCain in the remaining primaries. What I am saying is that, if McCain is our nominee, we had better get behind him unless we want Clinton or Obama to name some Supreme Court justices, enact gun control legislation with the aid of Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer, raise taxes, and do everything else they can to wreck our country. Clinton's and Obama's have never gone below 95%. 40% is not what I consider desirable, but it's a lot better than 95%, and 95% is what you WILL get if you don't back McCain (again assuming that he is the nominee). Another way of saying it is, if I have to eat a sandwich of rotten meat or something similarly objectionable, I would rather have a single slice of it than a double-decker or club sandwich, and Clinton and Obama are both the supersize version.

At the Republican Party Caucus, county chairmen assign and designate separate precinct captains -- what you maladroitly misidentified as "officers," in your desperate haste to bluff your way out of an earlier, cringe-worthy faux pas -- reportable directly to them. Precinct Committee Chairs is the correct name; not a Precinct Captain and there was never the term you originally used, which was a "District Precinct Captain." I ask you, why would someone be a Precinct Committee Chair rather than a Precinct Committee Officer?
