Some 50 stalwarts of the political right privately met with Mitt Romney minutes after he dropped out of the Republican nominating race to discuss the former Massachusetts governor becoming the face of conservatism, as Ronald Reagan became en route to his 1980 election win.

Now THAT’S funny.
Mr. Zallow can speak for himself. Romney should go run the chicom olympics.
Ya know, since he’s out, can we now set our sites a lot higher?
I have a good feeling about this guy. Can’t wait till he runs again!
2012
As far as I’m concerned, Romney was the only person running from the git go who has the intelligence and experience to actually be a good president. I would support him any time.
I didn’t like him at first (thought he was a phony), but the more I read about him and his record the more I like him.
“I have a good feeling about this guy. Cant wait till he runs again!”
So do I. A Thompson/Romney ticket or Romney/Thompson ticket would have been just fine with me!
Nope.
4 years as a liberal governor impressed you that much, huh?
I think it shows just how desperate conservatives are at this point.
And we certainly DO need a standard bearer. The conservative movement needs someone who can draw everyone together from all the different parts of the movement. They have been feuding since 2006, and now they are proceeding to go off in all directions.
Whether Romney is the man to do the job is certainly a question. It seems to me that he has just proved that he is not. But we need somebody.
But we sure need somebody.
Not all of us. I’m happier with McCain than Romney, and I have no intention of voting for McCain.
I do believe that Mitt Romney was the best choice of what we had available to us. His resignation speech was quite inspiring, and I wish the voters could have seen that from him during his campaign. By “suspending” his campaign, I still have hope - for what I don’t know. I don’t quite understand what this meeting was about - to represent the face of conservatism? Is this about another party or keeping hope alive that we can keep McCain from being our nominee?
At this point, I am willing to hang onto any shred of hope that somebody will step up to the plate and give me an alternative to McCain, Clinton or Obama. I feel pretty down right now.
Check out Huck’s CPAC speech. Ig was inspiring - something rare this election season.
Still at it, huh? Haven't learned yet.
You have to admitt :o) he’s an inspiring speaker AND he actually SAYS something when he speaks.
Exactly. We can do much better.
