Fred Thompson, the one-time Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Sen. John McCain Friday, calling on the party to "close ranks" behind the presumed nominee

Wow. I hadnt read the thread yet. Thank God. Im not the only crazy.Third party, baby. Third party. Those boogers will never get my vote again.
So what do we do?
Im thinking that we were able to stop shamnesty because they werent sure how strong were are on the Internet. They were afraid and they caved. Since we jumped on board for Fred and toed the line just as they planned, they will no longer be afraid. We have proven that we can be controlled.
We have to show them that this is not the case.
How?
What do we do?
You don’t have to be an ass. Being right doesn’t make you brilliant. Instead of deriding people, how about being helpful and contributing to a solution to the problem instead of patting yourself on the back and screaming, “I told you so!” from the rafters.
We have to pool together to stop this dead in its tracks. Surely it’s not too late.
It is unfortunate that we do not have a better option that John McCain, but of the 3 he is the ONLY possible CinC who is not a total freak show. We cannot allow Shrillary or Osama, er, Obama to become CinC in the middle of a war!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm sick of you astro-turf weenies. 2 days ago it was "No McCain", now you guys have your marching orders and are flooding the board with pro McCain cow poo. Go away.
To be successful for a third party, we all have to band together and vote for the SAME third party. We have to get the word out everywhere we can.
Who? We have to organize and mobilize. NOW. Before it’s too late.
Well that was a thoughtful, intelligent, well-reasoned analysis of our predicament. You really overwhelm us with your brilliant insight......

Fantastic. I’ve read more of the thread. You guys are all fighting amongst yourselves... Those that were right are rubbing it in and those that were wrong are refusing to belive it (and who would with the fools rubbing it in).
We’re doomed. If we can’t even get together and mobilize to stop this insanity on FR without casting slurs, then we might as well fall in line with the sheeple and let Hillary be the next prez.
I was a donating Keyster in 2000 but I’m done with him. He’s definitely jumped the shark. As a practical matter, Keyes couldn’t beat Obama once already and has zero traction. The voters have decided (foolishly or not) our GOP nominee, excepting unforeseen circumstances, is John McCain.
It might be zotted. But FR is not the only conservative board.
I may be naive, but I bet Jim isn’t too thrilled about this situation either. Jim was a Keye’s supporter 8 years ago. I suspect he’s wondering if he’s been had just as much as everybody else her has been. You can’t tell me that 80% of the people here do not have that thought in the back of their minds.
It’s just all too bizzarro to make sense.
George Allen was my choice, but that didn’t happen.
I have had to rethink my declaration never to vote for McCain, because as a military family, the thought of either Dem being CIC is just not acceptable.
There IS a solution. There is an actual constitutionalist, NON-globalist, someone who will go back to the basics of limited government, fiscal conservatism, protecting our liberties, someone who is strongly pro-2nd amendment and will overturn Roe v Wade. Someone who will NEVER sell us out to globalism.
But unfortunately (VERY unfortunately) too many Republicans, especially those on this site are so obsessed with Bush's war and hyper-Wilsonian foreign policy that they would throw everything else out, and give our country over to either a liberal/globalist RINO or the Dems, before they support the one true constitutionalist and patriot, Ron Paul. Just because he opposes the war. Meanwhile, Hillary will probably be our next president, and it truly scares me what could happen if the Clintons get back in power. But they would have all that, before supporting someone they hate, even though they agree with him on probably 95% of the issues.
It truly blows me away and saddens me to no end.
It might be zotted. But FR is not the only conservative board.True enough. Let things settle for a month. I'm amazed though, somebody has to be mounting a concerted psyop on FR right now. The sheer uniformity of it(stealing Romney's talking point and spewing it everywhere) is crazy.

I’d like to see Jeff Sessions, of course. Sessions hasn’t mentioned at all being interested in running.
Who can we get behind that everybody, evangelicals, moderates, EVERYBODY, can support for the good of this country?
Huh? I’m sorry if you need your meds increased but that’s not my problem. Don’t call me names just because you can’t face reality. Do I want these to be our only realistic choices in 2008? OF COURSE NOT. But you have not begun to address the point that it is completely unacceptable to contemplate a CinC in wartime who wants to surrender as fast as possible (Shrillary or Obama). Yes, I will take John McCain over either of those two surrender-weasels, gagging all the way. If you prefer a return of the Clintonistas or the arrival of the Obama crowd, you should not be casting any stones a people clear-eyed enough to still care about defending this nation.
I’m sorry, but there was no conspiracy. Period. End of story. He doesn’t play those kinds of games. You and I everybody else knows McCain is likely the nominee, and he is a loyal Republican and is trying to be a unifier. He campaigns for the party regardless. He even went up to RI to try to help that sorry excuse of a Senator, Lincoln Chafee, because he didn’t want us to lose a single seat in ‘06 and cost the GOP the majority. He didn’t have to do that. He wasn’t a Senator anymore, and he wasn’t running for anything. That’s what I called leadership and statesmanslike conduct. That’s the person he is. You may not like his endorsement of McCain, but understand he is doing it because he believes the alternative of a divided party resulting in the election of Hillabama is far worse for the country.
I’m just a bit angry here because a lot of people don’t know the man and can’t understand that there’s no conspiracy and never was.
Ron Paul isn’t it. He’s anti-war; so it’s not going to happen. Some of us still remember 911. We have to be sensible.
Somebody that EVERYBODY can back. Everybody needs to scrap their old favorites and think of somebody that is electible, somebody that we can ALL back... for the good of this country, which means that he might not be perfect, but so much better than the plate of garbage they’re dishing up for us.
*sigh*
You are entitled to your opinion. I disagree. McCain has not been a loyal conservative. Some of us want a conservative candidate.
