After the past year of the Republican leadership attacking the voting base for opposing amnesty, there is no denying this.

It's this premise I disagree with. If I find your premise faulty, obviously I am going to find your subsequent conlusions faulty as well.

So you missed Bush's personal attack on the absolutely law abiding Minute Men when he derisively called them "vigilantes" or when he personally said that those opposed to amnesty "won't do the right thing" for illegal aliens?

Did you also miss Bush's Cabinet Secretary Michael Chertoff saying that it seemed like amnesty opponents wanted to "execute" the 20 million illegals. If I were President and one of my Cabinet members said such a thing, he would be gone that same day.

FYI Bush is at least the titular head of the Republican Party and these are attacks by him personally and Chertoff reports directly to him.

If you are unaware of events happening around you, I'd be careful of accusing others of fantasy.
