“The Marshall Islands have a special relationship with the U.S. Our relations are governed by the Compact of Free Association, through which Marshall Islanders enjoy certain privileges, including with regard to employment and immigration.”

You say that as if it were a good thing. Sorry, I’m not buying it.

We are welcoming a whole horde of people who are uneducated, poor, diseased, and bringing their various tribal and religious conflicts with them. No thanks. Why can’t we bring in immigrants who will contribute something positive rather than be a drain on our resources? If that is xenophobic, then count me in.

Well, before 1986, the Marshall Islands was effectively a territory of the United States. Now it's an independent nation. Would you rather the US reassert its sovereignty over the archepelago? It's not like the US dropped hydrogen bombs on them or anything...

We blew up their country. The least we can do is let a few of them in. But one question I have though is why the heck weren’t these people tested before they came in?
