Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?

If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?

Can you make the case without bringing up the War?

Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?

Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)

Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?

Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?

Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?

Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?

Can you?

The ball is in your court.

“I will support any Republican, even a RINO, which I’m not saying McCain is, over about any Democrat, and certainly over Osamy and Hitlery.

Shame on the rest of you dreamers who won’t be voting.

Thanks a hell of a lot for electing the Democrats this fall.”

I won’t support a RINO, and I WILL call McCain a RINO. I vote issues, not party. I will be voting, and I may vote for a Dem just to send a message to the Republican Party. If I’m going to help elect a socialist, I may as well do it with my eyes open, rather than shut tight, and lying to myself. You want to thank someone? Thank the RNC.

Only if he picks Michael Steele or Alan Keyes as VP.

“If McCain is unpopular with some conservatives, it’s because he has the courage to say what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.”

Can you give an example?

Many of these jobs aren't coming back (in MI).

We have to stay in the war as long as necessary to win it.

There are more wars in our future.

The only thing worse than war with Iran is Iran getting nuclear weapons.

There is no consensus in the US to deport all illegal aliens.

Republicans need the cloture rules as much as democrats, and trying to destroy them is arrogance and politically stupid.

Waterboarding is torture, and it is flat stupid to give opponents such propaganda for something you are going to use all of 3 times.

Half the pols in Washington are bought, and votes are openly sold for a few thousand dollars.

We can't afford huge new entitlements, including politically popular ones supported by republicans like medicare part D.

Social security is going broke, and it has to be fixed, yesterday.

That is ten off the top of my head, all of them unpopular with large, politically powerful groups, all of them true.

You aren't wrong. But those disappointed in how left Bush has governed cut him imaginary slack ages ago, and are in denial about the role of their movement version of ideological conservatism in the modern republican party. They wanted to believe that Bush's strayings were personal quirks and mistakes and would all go away as soon as his term was up. They weren't, they were nosing out the political center in present US politics - in fact, headed there but not going far enough to actually arrive.

They just don't like this reality, so they pretend it isn't real or that it is all some snow job. It is making them irrelevant in national politics.

Yes, if he is the nominee.

The alternative is to hand the country over to the extreme libs. - be it Hitlery or Obama.

I’m with you FRiend. Electing McCain is a far sight better than the alternative. I would have expected these “stay-at-home” protesters in the party to have learned something from the 2006 election. Staying at home does only one thing, ELECT DEMOCRATS.

Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?

57.2%, according to the latest FR poll. Expect that number to be around 80% by the convention and around 95% at election time.

As a precinct committeeman for the local GOP party, you bet I will vote “R”, (see my tag line)!

“You are the RINO, punk. You don’t vote republican, so you flat aren’t one. Simple.”

Never said I was a republican. I’m conservative. I vote issues. That said, for many years, the Republican party was much closer to what I want to see our government become. That has been falling apart lately. Until and unless they reorient to more conservative principles, they do not get money or votes from me. As for my punk-hood, I suppose it must take one to know one. I don’t know you from Adam, and I did not attack you. Keep it to issues, not personal attacks. You risk getting yourself banned, otherwise.

My future intention, so far as voting goes, is to vote for conservatives. I do not care what party they are registered with. Like it, or lump it, it makes no difference to me.

I agree with your two reasons.

They are both pretty important and worthy of voting of making McCain my choice in the general election even if he wasn't my choice in the primary.

People be reasonable. There was no RNC "conspiracy" or choosing of McCain by the elite - the guy got the nomination because he appealed to more of the voters in the primaries than any other candidate running.

Go back and reread: the only person I called a RINO is John McCain. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

And the one I am calling a RINO is you. Because you don't vote republican, aren't a republican, are in no position to lecture any of us one what is and isn't republican.

Do you believe your attitude and approach will win over undecided voters?
