I support John McCain now (I didn’t vote for him in the primary) until he does something to make me not support him again.

The case for John McCain is:

He is strong on the war. He has never wavered on this.
(Sure he had criticisms but who didn’t?)

He is strong on taxes and spending. He has never voted to raise taxes and he has been an unwavering advocate of ending earmarks and cutting spending.

He is strong on Pro-Life issues. He believes Roe-vs-wade should be repealed and that states should handle the issue themselves.

He is less conservative on Gay rights but he supports letting the states decide. There is no way he is going to be a promoter of Gay Activism.

His voting record on the issue:
YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage
NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation
NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation
NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes
NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage

We are also likely to get judges like Roberts and Alito from McCain which is another plus.

These are just a few issues but even though John McCain is a mixed bag he is not a centrist by any analysis he is considerably right of center and those who have tried to cherry pick issues to make him into something he is not should take a deep breath and be honest with themselves.

Even though I loath John McCain, I will be forced to vote for him. I can’t stand by and watch Hitlery take the White House. Being forced to vote for arrogant person isn’t the same thing as supporting him. It could be some Hillary operatives suggesting that we sit out the election. No way is that going to happen with me. Perhaps the only satisfaction I will get this election season is to see Huckabee get tossed over-board because McCain no longer needs him.

"Sounds like you’re asking if we can make the case without making the case."

That sums it up.

Simply not true and shows that you really don't or can't understand.

McCaine is among the worst Republicans and there are many Democrats, Joe Leiberman among them, that are better people and could preside better.

But this election definately shows that America's best and brightest do not want to be President and what we end up getting are those that really really really want it, which in my mind should automatically disqualify them.

But if you really thing that all Democrats are jackasses and unfit for higher office, I'd suggest that you don't personally know enough people in your life.

I can see why the GOP preys on those like you.

Well, it was probably me, not you, at the time I got it, I was getting allot of responses, and I was responding to them with passion (passion means I lost my temper). When I didn't take it as a "hole in the head", I took it as a bullet hole. When combining the bullet hole with the caption on the bottom, I interpreted it as, dump the party altogether, execute the elephant, and vote Hillary.

You did just fine, I assumed wrong. I just didnt take the time to study it properly for your meaning.

Republican or not, I could make a far better case against McCain than I can make one for him.

And the Republican cannot afford to make a mistake this time because one more disastrous Republican in the White House like Bush, and it will likely be the end of the Party -- at least for decades to come.

Face it, the Republican Party is a complete mess this election. It's because, although every one of our candidates have tried to call up the ghost of Ronald Reagan as a flag-waiving tool, none of them are anything close to Reagan. In fact, when you look at the original field of candidates-- from Duncan Hunter to Rudy Giuliani to John McCain, no one can even agree what "a Republican" actually is, anymore! And without that foundational agreement on the platform, the whole election just becomes a "Your Red Team" vs. "Our Blue Team" contest -- not a "who is the best candidate to run the most powerful country in the world" issue.

Sorry, I cannot defend McCain. He is not my first choice. I don;t even like the guy. But the argument that we should stay home and let the Dems have full control, and they will screw things up, and it will be so bad, that in 4 or 8 years people will BEG for a conservative ... that argument is naive.

The damage the Dems could do to this country, and the strides they could make to solidify their political power may be unfixable. And that is the point that "stay at home"-ers are missing.

Stay at home and a filibuster-proof congress is achievable for the Democrats. That would be interpreted as a mandate ... and they would use their new found political power to ensure they never loose it again.

“I expect a McCain/Romney ticket, and I’ll pull for it happily.

There is no freeper that saw Romney’s speech at CPAC today that can object to that ticket.”

the GOP does not prey on me...but that was a real good laugh!!! people like you who think they know everything about everything are a joke....you have no clue how i feel, what i think, but in your little world you apply what you think to everyone..and that’s sad. i’m done with you, closed minds will not listen.

There is a real chance that McCain will be a one-term President if elected, given his age. And that VP would be a front-runner for whenever McCain steps down.

“Are you all talk? Will you send money to the DNC, help the campaign, and vote for Obama/Hillary? Put your money where your mouth is. Whats loosing another war worth to you? 3000 soldiers lives spent in this war, and you want to give it to Obama or Hillary. I dont think you mean it. If you do, then go to the DU and start promoting your new party.”

Greg, I’m undecided, but having McCain campaign operatives tell me to “grow up” is not warming me to McCain.
