There simply was nothing wrong with the speech, it was quite good and McCain hopefully reminded conservatives he disagrees with the democrats on a slew of monumental issues.
Let’s see him herd cats next.
He’s gonna get a lot of opportunity to herd conservatives the next few months.
Who knows, he may get the hang of it.. or just hang along with the GOP ,, twisting slowly in the wind in November.
Time will tell .. with an obvious assist from the media..
Remember what Romney said a couple of weeks ago: “He’ll say anything to get elected president” (paraphrase if not quoted accurately, although it’s very close).
Trust McCain when he picks Thompson, Hunter, or Newt for VP.
Not before.
There are a lot of good speeches on record, but few actually have the outcome alluded to.
Of course McCain is going to say what he knows we want to hear. But there is still the issue of that glaring 24 year record that substantially contradicts conservative values.
Bush sold me with some good speeches and did he deliver the goods??? For the most part, NO!
One good speech is not going to roll me over.

Not good enough to get my vote. He claims that he will make sure that a “broad consensus” agrees that the border is secure before he proceeds with amnesty, but I need a very specific description of what this “broad consensus” means, and I have not heard it from McCain, ever.
Well said and ditto:)) it was a great speech and a hand out to the conservatives; but where were all the conservatives in congress when they had control? they left the senate little to work with as Coburn stated during his intro of McCain.
The man is an arrogant, now over-confident, liar! I've said it before....he may have changed the tune he's now singing, but he hasn't changed his heart, mind and soul.
As far as disagreeing with the Democrats on a 'slew' of things, he's tipped my pail with illegal immigration, tax cuts, thwarting a President honestly trying to make a difference, and campaign finance reform.
Screw him! I'll be sitting this one out.
Nothing wrong with the speech? I guess if you like totally open-ended Wilsonianism and promises of endless war, it was good.
I agree. Maybe the McCain hate is now going a little too far. It will be very disturbing if McCain does not pick a true conservative as his running mate. We should see how this plays out!

But what are we going to talk about now?
Could you just give me the short version, please? My guess, 1. abortion 2. withdrawal from Iraq That about sums it up because I don't believe that he will appoint real conservative judges and I think that Iraq is only a front on the WOT and McCain has been terrible on homeland security, interrogation, wire taps and Guantanamo. Just say NO to McCain and Huckabee.
