John McCain and CPAK can’t belong in the same sentence.

McCain does not pick a true conservative as his running mate.

Lieberman and Kerry may be on the short list. LOL

The speech itself was very good. Now ohn has 7 months IN THE SENATE as well as on the campaign trail - TO PUT HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS

Ok John, I no longer have a choice - so you have my attention -- Now can you convince me to vote for you?

I don’t understand what you mean. He factually laid out his voting record in the senate, factually laid out his campaign platform vs Hillary’s & Obama’s, and described how he intends to govern - by making decisions with the input of conservatives, but in now way guranteeing that his decisions will always be the ones conservatives prefer.

I didn’t expect much else. Basically he said “I’m not excactly like you, but I’m a lot more like you than Hillary or Obama.”

Yesterday, McCain was evil here, now many are falling instantly in line because he throws them a few bones in a speech. McCain was laughing all the way as headed back to his hotel room. Suckers!

Rush and Glenn Becker will be promoting him as the second coming within a month.

BTW, those who are impressed by speeches and flowerly Reaganesque prose might want to recall that "no new taxes" speech in 1988 which successfully whipped the conservatives into a pro-Bush mode during the campaign. Once elected, of course, he gave the suckers a tax increase.

To gain MY vote, his choice of VP will be extremely critical. If that person is a classic American moderate or liberal, I’ll find it nigh on impossible to support McCain.

I can think of many possibles that will turn me on, and many who would turn me off. (Huck is off, BTW) Many have not been mentioned in the presidential campaigning.

Sigh - I’m going to have a very tough, anxious ten months, for sure.

Maybe the McCain hate

Oh come on. After 8 years of stabbing the Conservatives in the back every chance he got, McCain expects us all to just ignore all his previous actions and support him?

McCain did everything he could to foster this attitude of hate. Don't whine at us because it looks like his plan worked a little too well.

The Republican Establishment had this "genius" notion that they had to rebrand the Party as Democrat Lite to win. Ok, well YOU got it. You purged all us icky right wingers from your party.

Don't come around here now and tell us we HAVE to support you all. Leftist Democrats vrs Leftist Republican. Same Same for a Conservative voter. Nothing to vote for. We will not work against you but we sure as hell aren't going to work for you either. How McCain, who spent the last 8 years spitting on party loyalty ever chance he got, thinks he can now demand party loyalty is a mysterious to Conservatives.

I won’t be voting for him. This country moves constantly to the left save a few years under Reagan. Now we are asked to make another significant compromise in that direction, in essence we are asked to just go ahead and marginalize ourselves or we’ll do it for you. Think about how many republicans are really quite liberal and its clear what is happening. The GOP is in some ways worse than the Democrats, we are suppose to stand for something they do not. What exactly does John McCain stand for? Why should we believe him? And lets not forget JM drinks from the AGW kool aid. Unless he somehow morphs into someone else and convinces me he understands what conservatism is and why it is the foundation of the best regime I will be looking at third party or no vote for POTUS.

Anyone who promotes McCain deserves the consequences for the amnesty-for-illegals they get as a result.

Same goes for the tax hikes they'll see under McCain as well as the abrogation of their First and Second Amendment rights.

McCain is nothing but Hillary with an 'R' by his name.

Good speech.

Good enough I suppose. But really, what else could he say?

Great speech. And I believe that he will do everything he can to accomplish what he says

Really, his political record for the last 10 years indicates that is a foolish hope.

The KEY is the RIGHT running mate. McCain is 71. If he picks a conservative, we could have a viable conservative candidate in a few years that the media would otherwise marginalize and/or ignore. Sort of like they did to this seasons selection of conservatives.

He lost me after the patronizing "calm down" remark.

Imagine that, Juan "Big Temper" McAmnesty thinking it's in his place to tell others to "calm down."

Wrong. We got the Judged DESPITE the Gang of 14, not because of it. We would of got Alito and Roberts anyway since we had the votes for the Nuke Option.

The only thing we got out of the Gang of 14 was dozens of our judges flushed so McCain didn’t have to take a stand against the Democrat Establishment that might have alienated the Editorial writers around the country

McCain whole campaign has always been about McCain's Cult of Personality nothing more. What good for John McCain is what John McCain will do. He has no core principals. His record the last 10 years proves that.

I don’t buy it, Senator. You don’t get my vote.

Translation: "I'm going to let the Democrats control the White House."

Translation of the translation: "I would rather lose the War in Iraq and have the Supreme Court be an activist Court for the next 20 years rather than pass up my temper tantrum."

And we must also agree that those who decide they cannot vote McCain,

Nope. You people told us "We have no place else to go" and you needed McCain to rebran the party so you could win the "Moderates" We have been telling you all along you cannot win WITH McCain. Do not try to shift the blame to US because you all were so enamored of this "Win with the Moderates" strategy.

Well you got it. You purged us icky Right Wingers from your party and got the candidate you wanted. Now go win your election. Don't blame us if it turns out the way we have been warning you all along.
