I suppose that Tom Coburn as well as George Allen - both people lauded as “our guys” in the House and Senate are now going to be tarred as liberals. Or just part of the establishment, right?

Perhaps, but not from this end...

Struck me as a telling slip of the tongue on Coburn’s part.

I speak only for me. I do not judge others, particularly politicians, by the endorsements they make, but rather the positions they take. I do not know enough of Coburn or Allen to decide where they stand, personally.

I do, however, know where McCain stands on principle issues for me, and I do not see any route to being able to vote for him.

But, again, I only speak for myself.

Coburn and Allen are just playing the game that politicians have been playing for the last couple of centuries. The rest of us are free to do as we choose.

Allen’s part of the establishment, always has been. That doesn’t mean that he’s still not solidly conservative. I supported him over Jim “Born Idiot” Webb in Virginia in ‘06 and hated to see him get undone by Larry Sabato and the MSM dragging “macaca” out every five minutes to club him over the head with.

The establishment Republicans are now going to line up behind the front-running candidate—they always do in this situation. The problem is, McCain should never have gotten to this point AS the front-running candidate. A combination of open primaries allowing liberals to vote, and a conservative vote that got fractured many different directions, got us here.

Why should anyone’s endorsement mean anything to me? I may regard them as “good guys”, but they have their interests and goals and I have mine.
