McCain or Bust...Conservatives, will you vote?

Posted on 02/07/2008 12:06:38 PM PST by WiseGuyF686

No articles on here, I apologize. I just wanted to bring a little bit of opinionated discussion in at this point, now that we stand on the brink of setting American back 4-8 years...

The conservative candidates are out of race, and it looks like it's McCain or bust. How many of you will close your eyes and vote for McCrazy over Obama or Hillary, in order to do minimal damage to America over the next preidential term...and how many of you will sit home and watch the sky fall?

Personally, I'll do just about anything to keep the Clintons at bay, including vote for John McCain.

I’ll vote for what few conservative congressmen I can find, if any. I won’t be voting for President.

Say the word...WIG!

“Grow a FRIGGIN back bone Freepers.”

Yes, enough of a backbone to not support the candidate that moderate and liberal Republicans force down our throats.

I'll certainly go vote for my congresscritters. I'll be doing a write-in for president, most likely.

As far as the presidency goes, it's "every man to his tent" at this point.

[sigh]

A hitlery administration would at least provide a rallying point for what is today a quite ragged and disunited republican party. It could even force today's congressional RINOs to pause and listen to their constituents.

Sure, but it's not all about domestic politics. We're getting Iraq under control with Petraus, but Hillary and Obama have both sworn to withdraw the troops as soon as they take office. We're also engaged in a larger war with Islamic radicals that is going to take decades to decide. McCain recognizes this. Hillary and Obama don't, and will not fight this war.

probably joined by a self defined evangelical minister as VP

I hope very much that McCain will not turn to Huckabee for his running mate - there are plenty of serious conservatives to help solidify his position with the base, starting with Fred Thompson.

Yes, pack up your toys and quit playing.

The rest of us are concerned about far worse things like this.....

Letting the above get in the white house, is NOT conservative.

hold his feet to the fire best we can

And this would be because emailing or phoning the President and/or Congress has accomplished what? I got a form letter once when I disagreed with my Representative's position.

"So your answer is to allow the Dem’s the chance to mess us up further? How is that going to make the Republicans more conservative?"

Sorry, that is not my answer.

Unaware of whose post you are responding to, I can only guess that you have inadvertently sent that post to the wrong person.

And as for your assertion that we are attempting to make the Republicans more conservative, I need to inform you that it will be up to the Republican Party itself to make that change.

I don't see how I can do anything to help them other than pointing out how they are not moving toward conservatism now.

Oh, thanks, but as I have already done so, you may direct your rant toward someone else.

BTW: While growing a backbone, I also took the opportunity to grow a pair of 'nads as well.

Goes well with my new "guts".

I also found my voice, all the better to speak for myself.

In the process, I discovered my honor, my pride, and self-confidence.

"Conservatives, will you vote?"

No, not for that traitorous bastard.

Those of you who pushed and supported McCain during the primaries.... you were warned.

There will be no Republican President elected in 2008 and don't you dare lay the responsibility for that at the feet of those who will not support your insane little man

"...Letting the above get in the white house, is NOT conservative."

Neither is supporting John McCain.

But my way of shutting down support for McCain and forcing the Democrats to take responsibility for what happens next will cause less overall damage to the country.

The key to this election is overwhelming support for conservative congress critters, the Presidency is lost already no matter which of these remaining candidates is elected.

So.. there will be a liberal President elected in 2008.

Get used to it and focus on the Congress. It's our only hope to salvage anything.

But by all means cut your apron strings from John McCain

Thanks for those links to McCain and the reasons he won't win. Correction: CAN'T win. Couldn't win even if his opponent turns out to be Hitlery.

Exactly!

As for lula's repeated "do you want the Dems to win?" mantra; I am not a black Democrat or some NARAL nag that responds to boogyman threats. McCain is as much my enemy and an enemy of the Republic as any Dem is. I don't vote to put my enemies in office. End of story.

Iraq is the ONLY thing in McCain's favor, but:
Only if he reverses course and does NOT play along with his 'cross the aisle palls - and I don't trust him on that either.

I actually think he is too smart, and too devious, to pick Huckabee for VP. On the other hand, I can think of no conservative who'd be eager to play VP under McCain - hard to 'unite he party' when no body is willing to kneel.
(Huck will either wind up with a fine sounding cabinet slot or be so ticked off he will slink home alone)

Any way, it's a train wreck.

"fine sounding cabinet slot "
should read:
fine sounding but meaningless cabinet slot, ambassador's post to the Republic of Wherizzitstan, or command of a dead end of some similar nature.

“Yes, pack up your toys and quit playing.”

Typical response of the moderate “republicans” to a conservative refusing to support a liberal republican. There is nothing I’ve heard or seen in any Democrat that scares more any more than does John McCain.

Nothing else matters if we allow our nation to be consumed by illegal immigrants and their offspring.

Your Obama fear-mongering rings hollow. McCain would destroy us just as assuredly.

Any conservative who votes for McCain under the current conditions is simply proving the liberal RINOs right...that they could run anyone with an “R” next to their name against someone like Hillary and the conservatives would buckle to vote for the “only game in town.”

We should be standing firm and telling the McCain camp that they won’t get a single vote from any of us unless McCain signs a pledge to run the illegals out of the US, build a complete fence along the US/Mexico border to stop the invasion of illegals, strip all federal support from any state that provides sanctuary to illegals, and arrest any employer who provides an illegal a job or government employee who provides them taxpayer-funded services.

If we buckle now we’ll get no concessions from McCain and his camp of jerks at all.

They can use programs to censor the internet and shut down web sites or block sites.

China has google censoring the internet.

yes McCain, Hillary, or any democrat, or the Huckster will shut down free speech and turn the U.S. into a socialist state. It’s been done in many places like in Venezuela . the people there and it seems here are dumb enough get fooled by government schools and the liberal media to vote in Marxists so that’s what they get, socialism and the poverty, misery and loss of freedom that socialism brings
