I couldn’t support Romney, but it does sadden me that the inevitable has happened. A liberal gasbag is going to be the nominee, and this year is a complete wash for Conservatism.

Well, Republican Party, I am registering as an independent today, and I don’t know if I’ll ever come back.

I have only voted for one non-Republican in my life, and it was a person who had been a Republican his whole life. It is time for a solid third party.

I believe an extended methodical effort needs to be mounted to develop a third party over the next five to ten years.

It needs to start at the bottom and develop to the top. It needs to have a means test to make sure it’s ranks remain true to certain beliefs. It needs to field spokespersons who are true believers and not some watered down Bill Krystol type.

I’m through voting for democrats who are too chicken-s**t to register as one.

He was discounted and ignored for several shortsighted reasons.
  1. The Mormon thing was bigger than it should have been-here on FR there were numerous ugly comments made, harkening back to Catholic bashing during JFK's run.
  2. His moderate record as governor. People can change and evolve. Recall Reagan's moderate policies as Governor of a liberal state, he then evolved into the conservative champion. Romney has been proclaiming conservative values since 1994.
Bottom line, I think voting for McCain was a mistake. I predict that if he wins, we will regret it constantly. I think it will be a painful experience. I liken it to driving while drunk and killing someone, then dreading your decision after sobering up, as the full impact of your bad choice sets in.
