Fred
Fred was my first choice for President, and I cannot rule him out as a VP pick. But picking Fred has at least two big “costs,” as I see it:
1. Age. I predict that every lede in the MSM would point out that the men’s combined age (136) is the oldest of any “ticket” in history, which it is.
2. Fred wouldn’t help much in the geographic sense. The GOP already has to win most of the previously-Red southern states, and I’m not sure Fred helps in some of the “swing” ones. I hope I’m proven wrong ... !
I was a Fredhead, but I always thought the best man for the #2 spot would be J.C. Watts. He isn’t a senator, he’s impeccably conservative and still young, and he left Congress before Cunningham and Foley, so he cannot be tarred with any of those scandals. Even though he played for the hated Sooners I say this.
Remember that the one place McCain is conservative is in the area of life. This election has grave implications for millions of unborn children, so I will hold my nose and punch that hole.
