Well, I went and did it after work on the way home last nite. It mostly just made me sad. Being a conservative and a Republican is/was a big part of my identity (I am certainly still a conservative, now so more than ever). I feel more like I would imagine if you broke up with a long time girlfriend because she continued to betray you and treat you like crap even though you stayed loyal and true to her.

When you are pushed too far, you just have to stand up for yourself and make a change even if it hurts. Part of being a conservative is sticking to your principals and I decided I had to stick to mine. I said back in the fall that if McCain or Huckabee were the nominee (as unlikely as it seemed at that time)that was chosen by the party that it would cause me to quit. I came real close during the immigration deal but the folks in congress redeemed themselves. Not this time. I’m done.

I still have my framed portrait of Reagan on my desk. I will draw my inspiration from that.

They went too far, left that is. This is not currently the party of Reagan. They won’t learn anything unless they take their medicine. Why reward bad behavior any longer and that includes the media (Fox News).
