Fox news just reported that Mark Halprin [sic], from Time Magazine, has information that Mitt Romney will be ending his campaign sometime today.
I didn’t point a finger at you. Are you feeling guilty?
Huckabee is under no circumstances acceptable.
You are dead on!
McCain and Huckabee’s constant swipes about how he was “buying” the election or that he was over a company where people lost jobs shows how bad envy has sunk into not only the party but the nation.
For McCain to say there are greedy people on Wall Street who needed to be punished shows he has no understanding of what the core of conservatism actually is.
Personally, I have more respect for a candidate that uses his own money than one who begs me for mine every other minute.
“Welll...arent you precious! Couldnt you try really hard and be gracious in your victory? Being obnoxious wont endear your candidate to everyone, whoever they are!”
He can’t put 2 plus 2 together.
Jewish; I am right out.
Huckabee talked about frying squirrel meat on a hot plate. He also posed for that very strange photo of him being shaved. That was almost as bad as John Kerry in the baby blue sperm suit.
A candidate who makes foolish mistakes like that can't win, conservative or not.
In addition; Romney just sold out for the establishment candidate.
Well then, we know what we have to do when that happens! We’ve done it before you know. I’d hate to see it come to that. We’ve become rusted over two centuries. I think some people then would be disappointed in us if didn’t stop our belly-aching and at least try when we have a chance still. Or at least when we still have time to do it without resorting to the “R” word! ;(
After all, they did it even when they were still so small! Surely a nation as big as we are could do no less!
No understanding of conservatism and no understanding of the principles this nation was founded on. It belies a hatred of freedom and liberty.
“If he realizes this then maybe he will pick Fred Thompson for running mate to get the conservative base.”
I’m not sure if anyone helps McCain at this point.
Yes, he is and you saying he is not, diminishes that fact not one iota...it only reflects your flawed judgment.
I never left Fred Thompson. I supported him in the ways a person can support a candidate before an election. I sent him money, I defended him against false attacks, I spoke well of him to people at my church. I collected signatures from people in my neighborhood to get him on the ballot in my state.
But when it was clear to me that Thompson was going to have a hard time getting enough support, and people here felt it was necessary for those who had a 1st choice to say so, I started saying Romney, and I answered Romney on our Freeper polls.
Unless you believe that Thompson lost because he didn’t get one more vote on a freeper poll....
BTW, since I still believe Romney was a conservative, I could fault you and others for being too blind to recognise a good conservative when he is standing head and shoulders above you. It would be a rational response to your complaints about me supporting him. But I understand why people were wary of Romney, and I NEVER asked anybody here to switch a vote.
I only called for people to support ROmney when Fred THompson dropped out of the race. Until that time, all I did hear was answer what i saw as false attacks on Romney. My defense of him was based on facts as I saw them, and I won’t apologize. If you want to beat a candidate, I say do so with the truth, not by embellishing the truth or using lies.
I also defended Thompson against lies told about him, but not so much when he had enough others here doing so and Romney needed more help.
I even defended Huckabee against what I saw as false attacks.
Your metaphor is not only a personal attack (again), it is not effective.
I’m not running for president.
McCain could run with Ronald Reagan himself as his VP and it won’t make him any less the liberal he is.
There is no point in having a liberal president and a conservative VP.
It’ll be a long 4 years Freepers, drink up.
Don't forget - Duncan Hunter is a died-in-the-wool politician, too. You don't represent that same district for 26 years, with all the perks of office, without becoming at least a little entrenched.
****Personally, I have more respect for a candidate that uses his own money than one who begs me for mine every other minute.****
Or one who has been using their elected, tax-paid jobs on behalf of their special interest contributors.
Rush has a slogan keep hillary in it so we can win it...in other words thats his way of backin juan....who in the hell is we ??? juan..well juan will never represent me!!!
Again, is Romney a patriot?
And to explain further, I believe Romney is a conservative, and I know for a fact he was running on a solid conservative platform. So my support for him in no way represents a “false conservatism”. THe problem with Romney was one of trust, and I trusted him, which opens me to the charge of naivete.
I supported Romney first after Thompson’s fall because at that time I could see the day coming when Thompson would be gone and we’d all be trying to rally to whatever was left and it would be Romney, and Romney needed to still be viable.
The fact is that last week a solid majority of conservatives were (sometimes grudgingly) backing Romney, but he had been dinged just a little too much previously by people trying to stop him to pull it out. Oddly, some of the people who were screaming for him to win on Tuesday were the same people who were gleeful when McCain won the NH primary.
Fact is, if Romney had won NH, Fred Thompson could still have been our nominee, but McCain would have been finished.
Rush not mentioning Hunter went along with the Bush anointing and the blessing of the conservative elites.
Rush always wanted Willard. He just said a few good words about Fred to make it look good. Rush called both Fred and Willard conservatives in the same sentence.
Ann Coulter did almost the same thing. She liked Duncan Hunter, but many times would mention Willard in the same breath.
Ditto for Laura Ingram.
Can we detect a pattern here?
