In four years Mitt will be too involved in his next successful venture to run for office. Too bad his next success couldn’t be getting this country back on track!

You know I don’t think any such thing.

You said it, I didn't.

You made a grave miscalculation.

Not at all. I backed the conservative.

It appears that many bought the spin on his record by the McCain-Huckabee tag team. And some just won’t vote for a Mormon.

FreeRepublic has been overrun by smallminded, shortsighted, moral equivocating idiots.

Looks like his sons finally convinced him to quit squandering their inheritance.

I don't care who you're backing, that is funny! :D

“What happens to Mitt’s delegates should he drop out?”

Perhaps he will auction them off to pay his campaign debt. I wonder which of the candidates has a bunch of $$ on hand.

There was an article written back during the Summer that implored Rush to get behind Hunter. Instead, he managed to utter about 3 sentences with his name in it over the next 6 months. Good job helping the conservative cause, Rush.

You forgot to blame the GOP, the CFR, the Trilateral Commission and black helicopters for no conservative being nominated this cycle.

Freepers like you remind me of New Orleans residents complaining that nobody helped them because they chose to stay and face a Cat 5 hurricane.

This election was over before it started. The liberal establishment was planning this for 4 years. It’s all over for liberty and freedom in our lifetimes

He gave it his best shot, but it wasn’t good enough this time around. Time will tell whether any future time will be good enough. The Mormon factor may prevent him from ever being elected, as there were many cheap shots directed at his faith.

I guess we have plenty of time to ponder the nomination of the Republican Party’s version of the Edsel, John McCain.

Ah yes, here come the personal attacks. Even in defeat, the Romney Sleaze Machine rocks on.

“I hope you will enjoy watching the raging McCain purge the Republican Party of any meaningful conservative influence with no opposition.”

He won’t be able to do that, even if he wants to. Reagan couldn’t purge us of liberals!

Actually, Romney has mostly still NOT been exposed to everybody. A lot of people in California really had no idea who he was. It’s very hard to get name recognition these days.

McCain had an entire previous presidential election, along with 8 years of being the “go-to” guy for the media whenever there was a republican to be trashed.

When people talk about Romney wasting his money, he had to spend money to try to get that name recognition that McCain got from 40 million spent in 2000, AND 8 years of essentially a hundred million worth of free advertising.

I agree, but Fred blew it when he failed to support the Human Life and Federal Marriage Amendments. The purpose of the U.S. Constitution is to settle issues that for whatever reason can’t be left to the states. I suppose a case could be made that abortion could still be left at the state level, but no such logical case can be made regarding same-sex “marriage”.

We’ll either have a federal amendment limiting marriage to one man and one woman, or a federal judicial fiat imposing same-sex “marriage” nationwide. There is no alternative. The Supreme Court has already ruled that marriage law is under the jurisdiction of the 14th Amendment (Loving). They’ve already ruled that homosexuals are a protected class under the 14th Amendment (Romer). And they’ve already ruled that there’s a fundamental right to engage in homosexual acts (Lawrence).

Once two or three states have same-sex “marriage”, including, perhaps, a big one like California or New York, the federal judiciary will find a way to force other states to comply. There’s no way around it when “married” same-sex couples from a state where its permitted can’t move to another state to accept job offers or pursue educational opportunities without their “marriage” becoming void.

I supported Thompson but his blindness on this allowed the Huckster to come out of nowhere and grab the evangelical vote.

>>Romney Campaign
Plans to say during CPAC speech: “If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or (Barack) Obama would win….”<<

If that is how he feels, that is a mature and selfless outlook.
