Mitt should move back to Michigan and run for either Senate against Debbie Stabsusnow or run for Governor. They need him.

>>“But I don’t understand pulling out now.”

I do. He crunched the numbers, and the chance of him winning were very slim.

He was spending millions.

I think his reasoning was sound, and I wish him the best in his future political career.<<

Isn’t he a billionaire? $30 million is 3%. Surely there is more to it than money. If he wants influence at the convention he could do it better with more delegates.

I just wonder if voting 3rd party (as tempting as that sounds), would do the same for Clinton 2 that Perot did for Clinton 1?

“I don’t understand the extent of the hostility against him.”

It appears that many bought the spin on his record by the McCain-Huckabee tag team. And some just won’t vote for a Mormon.

I am sorry for my ignorance in this but if Mitt officially ends his candidacy I am assuming that his accumulated electoral votes are lost. Do they go to the second place finisher in that district or are they open to make a choice otherwise at the convention? What is the significance of this as it pertains to delegates?

My understanding is that if he's no longer a candidate, his delegates are unpledged. They are not bound to vote the way he tells them, but a large majority will -- if they weren't believed to be loyal, they wouldn't have been his delegates to begin with.

Well I liked Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, and Ron Paul. Paul is still in the race and has around 42 delegates. I wonder if Romney and Huckabee talked anything over? With Mitt out, Huckabee may see some real votes tally up for him. I’ll keep backing Paul as he has always been my first choice but this is sure an interesting race.

I was leaning toward Huckabee, out of the remaining three candidates, anyway, because (despite some flaws) he is TRULY pro-life, very strong on the 2nd amendment, and understands the Red China threat more than the others.

Also, I think there’s a good chance that Huckabee would pick Duncan Hunter as VP.

Can you put together a list like this on Hillary?

I didn't think so.

Good idea. He should run for Gov. in Michigan.

Of course! If Romney comes back in four years as more of a conservative, with a conservative record, and without all the sleaze, I’d be happy to support him.

If his net is only that much, I may have him beat — depends on how you value oil reserves.

There was an article written back during the Summer that implored Rush to get behind Hunter. Instead, he managed to utter about 3 sentences with his name in it over the next 6 months. Good job helping the conservative cause, Rush.

After the dirty tricks done to him on Tuesday by McVain and the Huckster, he can’t win two against one.

“Let Willard go off and spend four years proving his conservative conversion.”

Excellent point. I’d like to see all the conservative activity/legislation/promotion he gets into for the next four years.

If his behavior is consistent, I’ll be much more likely to support him next time.
