Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable' The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams says the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK is "unavoidable".
Dr Williams told BBC Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
Dr Williams argues that adopting some aspects of Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.
For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.
He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
In an exclusive interview with BBC correspondent Christopher Landau, ahead of a lecture to lawyers in London later on Monday, Dr Williams argues this relies on Sharia law being better understood. At the moment, he says "sensational reporting of opinion polls" clouds the issue.
He stresses that "nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that's sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states; states; the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women as well".
But Dr Williams says the argument that "there's one law for everybody... I think that's a bit of a danger".
"There's a place for finding what would be a constructive accommodation with some aspects of Muslim law, as we already do with some other aspects of religious law."
Dr Williams adds: "What we don't want either, is I think, a stand-off, where the law squares up to people's religious consciences."

“Dr.” Williams doesn’t make law for the UK. Nuts, this guy can’t even manage to stick with one religion, simultaneously holding the titles of Archbishop of Canterbury and High Druid.
I don’t think he quite represents England ... but he is good at getting headlines.

The Archbishop is dead wrong. Yes, they should absolutely have to assimilate into the country they have chosen to live in. If the desire is to live under sharia law, there are places you can choose to live. But if the desire is to live in economic prosperity and enjoy personal freedom by living in a country with a secular government, then the price is assimilation. If the desire is sharia law, the “choice” should be to choose to live in a country that imposes that form of government.

If Muslims can’t follow British Law ship them out of the country Immediately.

In most countries they are called criminals. Gun owners in the UK should try this tack.
We won’t be far behind.
Based on the last few hundred years, Muslims can't invent or build anything beyond what they had before the industrial revolution.
Sure they make some crude rockets and bombs, but how about a computer, a television, a car, an airplane? All they do is blow them up, not build them.
I think the Muslim invention of the time machine will have to wait a few thousand millenia.
Eire already has independence from the British Crown.
For the Brits, it is over.
If we give up. England basically gave up. We can either gripe and moan and declare all is lost like a gaggle of mewling wimps, or we can fight this crap. The Founders never wanted a passive citizenry. If we lose, then it is because we chose to do so.

It’ll never happen. Muslims have proven over and over again that social cohesion with western values and laws is impossible. They don’t want cohesion, they want total domination.
