Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'
BBC ^

Posted on 02/07/2008 6:03:54 AM PST by Sub-Driver

Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable' The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams says the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK is "unavoidable".

Dr Williams told BBC Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

Dr Williams argues that adopting some aspects of Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.

For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.

He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".

In an exclusive interview with BBC correspondent Christopher Landau, ahead of a lecture to lawyers in London later on Monday, Dr Williams argues this relies on Sharia law being better understood. At the moment, he says "sensational reporting of opinion polls" clouds the issue.

He stresses that "nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that's sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states; states; the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women as well".

But Dr Williams says the argument that "there's one law for everybody... I think that's a bit of a danger".

"There's a place for finding what would be a constructive accommodation with some aspects of Muslim law, as we already do with some other aspects of religious law."

Dr Williams adds: "What we don't want either, is I think, a stand-off, where the law squares up to people's religious consciences."

I can’t believe the Brits would allow this to happen.
It boggles my mind that they would sanction “honor killing” and such.

What part of “you’re fired” does the Anglican church not understand? This guy is a loon. The Muzzies have a choice: obey Brit law or leave. Sooner or later the Brits are going to have enough of this and kick the sixth century religion back to the sands where it belongs.

Just remember, the Chamberlains and other appeasers of the 30’s led to Churchill. I hope the 700+ years of dynamic British history will produce another one before its too late.

Also, the Archbishop(s) of Canterbury have long been thorns in the side of strong defense and prosecution of necessary wars. In 1944 the big Druid tried to take Churchill to task for what RAF Bomber Command was doing nightly to German cities and civilians. He tried to take Sir Winnie to task for “killing innocent German children.” Churchill brushed him aside with a stentorian “So? At least they won’t grow up to be Narzies!”

Besides, just wait ‘til the little jihadist fifth columnists run into a few East End soccer hooligans.

Or did the Archbishop of Canterbury remove all doubt as to his developing dementia?

Steady on. Remember the report on last interview with ABC had been butchered and paraphrased until it conveyed almost the opposite of what he had actually said.

Now, I think the gentleman is a real Noodle, but looking at the fragmentary quotes and ellipses in this piece, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt until I see a complete transcript.

Is this madness?

Sadly, no. It's Britain!

“I can’t believe the Brits would allow this to happen.”

they have no values or beliefs to stand on.
they are like a book with no pages, with Islam slowly filling the book with its pages.

Once upon a time a high ranking British official in India came across some locals preparing to burn a widow on her husband’s funeral pyre. He inquired why they doing this and was told that it was an ancient Indian tradition called suttee.
He replied that it was ancient British tradition to hang people who did such things.
The practice of suttee ended then and there.

Britain needs more such officials. And they need a death penalty.

I’m beginning to formulate a hypothesis - Muslims win the war in the future and then after thousands of years, are able to master time travel. So they send back these Manchurian Candidates into positions of power and try to rig the system for Muslim domination even earlier than it happened.

I wonder if not so great Britain will accept the death penalty if mandated by a Sharia court? Be interesting to see what would happen.

“But Dr Williams says the argument that “there’s one law for everybody... I think that’s a bit of a danger”. “

Its nowhere CLOSE to the dangers of saying that there are different laws for different people, based solely on cultural or religious factors.

Well, of course, as long as people like you just lay down and accept it.

Perhaps His Eminence should be sent a copy of The Century War.

A little dated now, but it still makes its point.
