Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'
BBC ^

Posted on 02/07/2008 6:03:54 AM PST by Sub-Driver

Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable' The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams says the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK is "unavoidable".

Dr Williams told BBC Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

Dr Williams argues that adopting some aspects of Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.

For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.

He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".

In an exclusive interview with BBC correspondent Christopher Landau, ahead of a lecture to lawyers in London later on Monday, Dr Williams argues this relies on Sharia law being better understood. At the moment, he says "sensational reporting of opinion polls" clouds the issue.

He stresses that "nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that's sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states; states; the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women as well".

But Dr Williams says the argument that "there's one law for everybody... I think that's a bit of a danger".

"There's a place for finding what would be a constructive accommodation with some aspects of Muslim law, as we already do with some other aspects of religious law."

Dr Williams adds: "What we don't want either, is I think, a stand-off, where the law squares up to people's religious consciences."

I have that book on my ‘to be read’ shelf.......might have to move it up. But Shelby Foote’s epic on the Civil war is currently my reading material.

Sharia law is TOTALLY AVOIDABLE in England if the British choose NOT to roll over like dogs and die to everything they believe in and hold dear.

The opinion of one sadly, maladjusted, midguided individual does not speak for the entire United Kingdom.

I believe the British people are better than that.

But Dr Williams says the argument that "there's one law for everybody... I think that's a bit of a danger".

yep, that silly old "rule of law" that the English started...what a load, huh?

I mean really, why would you want to have one set of laws for a sovereign country?

He'll be on his knees with a blade at his throat or sitting on a bus when the bomb goes off and just then might realize what an asshat he is.

This IS kind of neat.... we get to see what Rome looked like before it was sacked. I'm supposing that the UK will start to have that distinctive atmosphere of ...... Constantinople in 1453... right before it became Istambul. hahahahahahaha.. ladies get your burkhas ready, it's going to be a great time for subjugation .

That's NOT the main point. Acceptance of sharia law means being CONQUERED by the Muhammadans!!!!

There are non-muslim advocates of sharia in the US as well. And they are as thick as flies among the mis-leaders of the ELCA, Episcopal church, and other "mainline" churches in our country. Lord have mercy!!!!

When you find a homosexual advising others that it’s OK to adhere to Sharia law that means he’s seriously mentally ill.

I don’t trust any of them to fight for our freedom or our sovereignty.

That is where "We the People" come in. The Founders expected that the populace would be vigilant and active. I am doing my part through gentle persuasion. Detailing, in a polite way, the failings and faults of Barry and Hillary. I find hot-button issues for people around me and detail how Clintobama have a negative effect on those issues. Regardless of who wins the presidential election, we will need a majority in the House and Senate to rein-in the winner. My goal is to help us gain those majorities. Also, the fight for traditional values and Western Culture is on the city, county, and state level as well as on the national level. It took the left decades to get us to where we are and it is going to take time to defeat their stupidity. The choices are to cry in my beer about how things are, or to fight this crap. I prefer the latter.

So?
D-Day was a “bit of a danger”.

It was still the right thing to do. The idea that I could be walking around, rubbing shoulders with citizens that were governed by a different law than me gives me the chills.

This guy is a nut case.

Gee, since I am from the US, is it ok if I drive on the right side of the road in the UK? I mean, it would be so stressful for me to have to change my driving culture.

Will the good Bishop cast out the first stone when a woman found in adultery (or just dating a non-Muslim) is under Sharia law sentenced to be stoned to death to save her family honor? Perhaps the good Bishop should better read the New Testement and what Jesus had to say in this situation.

Muslims will create a separate entity within England that will compete with the established government. Eventually they will not consent to be governed by England.

So, Kemel Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey, was able to keep Sharia Law out of a majority Islamic country but the Archbishop of Canterbury, supposed spiritual leader of the State Church of England cannot keep it out in a place where Muslims are still the minority?

We’re headed in the same direction IF we elect McCain or Huckabee gets in;

Huckabee promotes ‘open door’ policy at LULAC convention
Thursday, Jun 30, 2005

By Wesley Brown
Arkansas News Bureau
LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.

“Do unto others as you would have others do unto you,” Huckabee said, citing the Golden Rule. “I have tried to govern that way and it stands to reason that I really do believe that what made this great country so great and so unique is that it has always been a place for people to run to - and not run from.

“I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...,” Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.

Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.

About 10,000 political, community and business leaders, along with exhibitors and speakers are in Little Rock attending the convention at the Statehouse Convention Center. The convention started Monday and runs through Saturday.

Although he never actually talked about the U.S. or Arkansas immigration policy, Huckabee made it very clear where he stood on the issue. In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.

“Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority,” Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter.

He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state’s capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

“Your gathering is so very significant for our state,” Huckabee said. “We are delighted to have you.”

Despite several light moments, Huckabee did not stray away from several controversial issues that made him a target of criticism during the recently ended 85th General Assembly. He said Arkansas needs to make the transition from a traditional Southern state to one that recognizes and cherishes diversity “in culture, in language and in population.”

“This is an issue that is going to require extraordinary efforts on both sides of the border, particularly those coming from Mexico,” Huckabee said of verifying the status of illegal aliens. “But I am confident that our government will recognize that we should accommodate people who wish to provide the best opportunities for their families (and) employers so that we can make sure our economy has the necessary work force.”

During the legislation session, Huckabee criticized an immigration bill by Republican senators Jim Holt of Springdale and Denny Altes of Fort Smith as un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life.

Senate Bill 206, which died in the Senate, would have required proof of citizenship to register to vote and also force state agencies to report suspected cases of people living in the country illegally. Holt, R-Springdale, replied later to Huckabee’s comments that Christian charity does not include turning a blind eye to lawbreaking.

The Republican governor, who many believe will run for president in 2008, also backed legislation that would have opened the door for illegal immigrants in Arkansas to receive college scholarships.

House Bill 1525 by Rep. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock, was approved by the House but eventually failed in the Senate. Huckabee reiterated Wednesday that he believes every child, regardless of their parent’s immigration status, should have an opportunity to receive an education in the U.S.

Yup twisting the “Golden Rule” till it is unrecogniable opened the doors to Muslims without proper screening to take over. The Huckster is misuing the Golden Rule, and thumbing his nose at OUR LAWS to accomplish this.

As for McCain:

...

Is Amnesty for Illegals Out of Fear?

On Tuesday a group of bipartisan senators approved what can only be considered an amnesty program with minor strings that will allow illegals to bypass existing immigration law and eventually become citizens. Why would United States Senators who have taken an oath to up hold the Constitution be so anxious to give 11 million illegals amnesty? Senator John McCain explained this very clearly in his statement when he said, “The turnouts in the hundred of thousands in these protests out there in Los Angeles and all over the place helped galvanize support for the bill.” What they are doing is in opposition to the desires of the people who elected them to office.

They are violating the Constitution as we shall document later in this article and there are already existing border laws congress is not enforcing. Now we know what moves the US Senate, large crowds waving Mexican flags. All these senators see are potential new votes for their political ambitions. At the same time they are ignoring the 200 million plus Americans who pay their taxes and are responsible legal citizens. These are the people the senators in the senate committee are willing and ready to kick in the corner like dirty clothes.

Would you Say that Again, Please

Amazingly, even Paul Krugman, a very liberal writer for the New York Times wrote, “Unfortunately low-skill immigrants don’t pay enough taxes to cover the cost of (government) benefits they receive.” So how many illegals aliens does Hillary want the American people to support? The national debt has broached the $9 trillion mark. It would seem it’s her intention to destroy this nation with illegals aliens.

Uncontrolled and a free for all on immigration will bring this problem to the U.S..

Yes and we need Churchills now, not at a point when that speech would be followed off mike (as it was when Churchill actually delivered it) with

“We shall hit them over the head with beer bottles, because that’s all we’ve got left to fight them with.”

Not quite true, thanks to US logistical support, but Churchill could turn a phrase whether in public or private.
