Could This Be Possible?
Peter N. Lewis

Okay, so this evening was like a glass of cold water hitting me in the face.

The GOP is on its way to nominating McCain as our Presidential candidate. If this happens, I WILL NOT vote Republican this Presidential election.

Here is my question, could Huckabee or Romney drop out, and endorse the other candidate, and request their delegates to join them in that support?

Could a VP promise from either of these men, with egos set aside, save the conservative vote?

I am willing to vote for EITHER of those two men for POTUS, and am willing to bet if the two were paired up, most conservatives would be willing to as well, especially considering the alternative.

I find it so laughable that McCain is calling himself the "true conservative" when nothing is further from the truth...

So, once again, is it possible for either of the candidates to do this?

From what I am reading on the Internet, I believe only a very few of Romney/Huckabee's delegates are hard, and could vote either direction once they convention comes around.

Just an idea I wanted to see what you guys thought of this, and if it would be possible or not.

Whatever. Just go ahead and roll over and take it in the rear by the Democrats then. Heaven forbid we should have a Republican president who is not conservative enough for your tastes. A liberal Democrat would be much better. Just stay home in November and let the Democrat candidate take the presidency and let them increase their margins in Congress and the Senate so they can appoint and whoever they want as judges, pass any socialist legislation they want to pass, and just generally have everything they’ve wanted but have been denied so far. It might take decades to fix the damage they cause, but at least you won’t have had to sully yourself by voting for someone not conservative enough for your tastes.

Unlikely, since Huckabee seems to have "signed a pact" with McCain already.

Well, I'm glad to hear your remarks were tongue-in-cheek. I think you're probably correct about Ann Coulter -- she'll come around by election time. After all she has to stay in the public view in order to sell her books -- I can't really blame her in a way, but I'd really appreciate it if she wouldn't shock us so much in the process. Rush is supporting Romney right now, but I don't think he'll "sit this one out" as he has threatened either.

Personally I'm still supporting Romney, after having supported Fred, and I'll stay with him until he no longer has a mathematical chance of winning. If he loses, I'll do as he will do, and as Fred will do, and support the nominee. The alternative is unthinkable, even if McCain wins the nomination.

I didn't invent that term "suicide voter". Google it. By definition it's someone who votes for the opponent to spite their party for not selecting their favored candidate.

“I lived through Carter and Clinton, and I’ll live through Clinton II or Obama or McCain.”

You might, but I think thousands or millions won’t, should be surrender the WOT.

Then the GOP globosuits should have been more careful about what horse's ass they put in the race. I din't manipulate the primary, they did... and they did it with their eyes open and malice aforethought. The body count goes on their tab.

You should take another look at that statement. So all the blame is on them, so what? If you can do something to preserve innocent people’s lives, you should do it. No matter who is to blame.

“Hillary and Obama have said they will secure the border as well. Both signed the 2006 Secure Fence Act.”

Fair enough. I trust them all about equally on the border fence issue, then. I hope it gets built. We’ll wait and see.

What about the other issues, I say? There are other important issues, too.

I should take another look at my statement? Oh, okay. Yeah... I wasn't thinking when I typed. Sorry about that... let me see...

No, I don't need to take another look.

I may be my brother's keeper, but I also know when to shake the dust of a place off my feet and not look back. Even if I had the ability, I won't save a world that doesn't want to be saved. You seem like a nice concerned person, so you can take my vote, or my musket, or whatever it is that I'm supposed to be noble and selfless with, and YOU carry it in John McCain's army.

“See my post at 144.”

I saw it.

What’s your point?

I will take either one: Obama or Clinton.

Why should Republican’s take the hit for what’s going to happen in the next four to eight years?

May as well be a Democrat instead of some underqualified, overbearing Republican patsy.

I’ll vote Thompson, and R’s the rest of the ticket, and gird my loins.

Why subsidize cowardice?

If you saw it, why did you ask your question? Your question was identical to one that had already been asked. If you saw my answer, why did you ask the same question a second time?

Can you calmly tell me why McCain would be any different?
Don’t tell me about Judges, because McCain has no credibilty on the issue.
Don’t tell me about the war, either. McCain’s statements and positions about Gitmo, waterboarding, ICC, Rumsfeld, etc. tell me all I need to know.

Perhaps because your post was unpersusive.

What is the point of calmly telling you anything? You’re angry. Your mind is made up, for now. No one is going to convince you anything right now. In time you will probably come around and do right and support your party against the Democrats. Right now you’re like a lot of others here at Freerepublic, pissed off beyond belief and not thinking clearly.

Maybe, but that would be different than what you said in your last post.

Look, if you want to sit here and be obtuse, fine; do whatever you want. I really don't care. If you want to add something to the discussion, then I'm all ears.

I suggest you support McCain if he’s the nominee. He will support the troops. He won’t cut and run.

It’s kinda funny how you McCain lovers go out of your way to insult the very voters you’re trying to attract.

Name calling as a way to attract voters. Interesting strategy.
