Okay, so this evening was like a glass of cold water hitting me in the face.
The GOP is on its way to nominating McCain as our Presidential candidate. If this happens, I WILL NOT vote Republican this Presidential election.
Here is my question, could Huckabee or Romney drop out, and endorse the other candidate, and request their delegates to join them in that support?
Could a VP promise from either of these men, with egos set aside, save the conservative vote?
I am willing to vote for EITHER of those two men for POTUS, and am willing to bet if the two were paired up, most conservatives would be willing to as well, especially considering the alternative.
I find it so laughable that McCain is calling himself the "true conservative" when nothing is further from the truth...
So, once again, is it possible for either of the candidates to do this?
From what I am reading on the Internet, I believe only a very few of Romney/Huckabee's delegates are hard, and could vote either direction once they convention comes around.

Just an idea I wanted to see what you guys thought of this, and if it would be possible or not.

You shot yourself in the foot in this debate.
You established that the greatest president of our generation, Ronald Reagan, gave amnesty to 2.7 million illegals. He called it a "one time amnesty" but the very reason we are in the pickle we're in now is because of that "one time amnesty" that encouraged more illegal immigration, still without a secure southern border. Despite all this, his legacy survived. Oh, and let's not forget the bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon -- which Reagan's legacy also survived.
Let's not forget -- McCain says secure the borders first before considering any granting of legal status to illegals. He didn't start with that position, but when he realized his Bush-plan position is unpopular, he changed it. Not unlike Romney has done with a number of his positions....my personal favorite candidate that's still in the race.
Aside from all this, if you're a one-issue voter, why don't you just say so instead of ignoring my questions:
Do you understand the impact of abortion on our country? Do you understand the impact of a "Culture of Death" on our country?
You’re making a lot of lucid points for an old lady with a hangover!
Lets put some things in perspective here
McCain’s ACU rating is 82 for lifetime and 65 for 2006
Hill is 9 and 12
Bama 8 and 8
if McCain is the nominee i will go and vote for him as a vote against Hill/Bama.
in response to your question though Huck and Romney dont seem to like one another but McCain and Huck get along. if anything Huck would probably cut a deal with McCain not Romney
For all of you McCain-bashers, I have this to say:
If you are saying you won’t vote for him under any circumstance in the primaries, I am with you.
If you are saying you won’t vote for him in the general election versus a Democrat, you are a fool.
I disagree with your statement completely about the tax issue with the illegals. All illegal immigrants collectively, regardless of income, generate a $20,000 / annum loss. Criminals, gang activities, drug running, burden on infrastructure, schools, medical care, at the state levels. We're importing, crime, disease, ignorance and poverty.:
I thought we outlawed slavery? Cheap labor at who's benefit? I cut my own grass. Economic servitude of a class of people is wrong and I don't choose to pay for it , neither.
The conservative Heritage Foundation estimates that the taxpayer cost of amnesty for 12 million illegal immigrants could be as high as $2.6 trillion by the time they reach their 80s.
With more than half of adult illegal immigrants thought to be low-skilled and lacking a high school education, the Washington, D.C.-based think tank contends that they and their descendants wouldn't come close to covering their cost to society for decades to come.
To put $2.6 trillion in perspective, the 2006 U.S. gross domestic product - or the value of all goods and services produced here - was about $13 trillion.
Do yourself a favor and read the article from the Heritage Foundation....there are many more out there too.
Remember this: For every 7 tax dollars the gov spends 'to help somebody', only one dollar actually gets to the person in the form of that help.
Now how does that help the taxpayer?
If McCain is the nominee....the Dems will win.. period. Too much disgust at this election year.....many Repubbies will stay home and not vote... Having two Dems to vote for isn’t going to create incentive to vote.
Ronald Regan made a mistake and Ed Meese, his attorney general at the time, agrees with me. You don't repeat the same mistake and expect a different outcome. In fact, if the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 had been enforced as written, we wouldn't be having the problem we have today. And it is worth noting that amnesty was not automatic and the person applying had to be here prior to Jan 1, 1982 or five years before. McCain-Kennedy gave legalization of status to virutually every illegal in the country including absconders. Reagan wasn't perfect.
McCain has not provided any criteria as to what constitutes a secure border. The McCain-Kennedy bill contained some secure border provisions but only about 300 miles of the fence had to be completed. And the fence will not fix the problem since 40% of illegals come here legally and are visa overstays. McCain's "change of positions" is just a matter of sequencing. He is not backing down from amnesty. Unfortunately, some people are being fooled by his statements. It should also be remembered that the House passed an enforcement first bill in Dec 2005 HR 4437, sponsorsed by Jim Sensenbrenner, but the WH and McCain shot it down holding enforcement hostage to CIR. So much for national security concerns after 9/11.
I am also supporting Romney, but the chances of his getting the nomination are very bleak. I will be attending CPAC and will give McCain a "warm" welcome.
Aside from all this, if you're a one-issue voter, why don't you just say so instead of ignoring my questions:
I am a one-issue voter for the first time in my 65 years on the planet. Amnesty and immigration will destroy this country. The stakes are very high. I spent four days each in SC and FL driving almost 2000 miles in the process of demonstrating at almost all of the McCain events. I was even roughed by some of his goons who tried to prevent me from entering one of his events. Eventually, I was escorted IN by the police when I invoked the Pruneyard decision.
I am not ignoring your questions, just stating my view that, "Amnesty is not everything, it is the only thing." Everything else pales in comparison in terms of its impact on this country. It is sort of like asking, "Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"
Do you understand the impact of abortion on our country? Do you understand the impact of a "Culture of Death" on our country?
Yes, I do understand the impact of abortion, which is a moral issue as well as a political issue. But I also realize the limitations of how much a President can influence the issue and the role the judiciary plays in it. In my mind, amnesty has far more of a potential to destroy this country than abortion does. And amnesty is irrevocable. Once the decision is made, it is final. Amnesty is forever. It is game, set, and match for this country. That is my point. Unfortuately, most Americans are woefully uneducated about the issue. We are like the proverbial frog slowly being boiled alive. By the time we realize what is happening, it will be too late.
I didn’t say “tax payer”, I said “federal government”. The negative financial aspects of illegal immigration are borne by state and local governments.
The Federal government had made a Faustian choice to use illegal aliens to (temporarily) fund Social Security. That’s why they don’t want to seal the border.
Hey, that’s TWO things Hillary and I have in common-—making it one more thing than I have in common with McCain!
If you’re gonna argue the issue, at least recognize the core premise.
You’re damn right. I probably would have been a better candidate than either of these dildo pikers that are still in the race!
At least I would have paid attention to the top secret briefings that McCain dissembled his way through.
What we are seeing is the cumulative effect of the LBJ raiding the SS fund to fund the Vietnam War, (continued raiding of that fund after him), unbalanced federal budgets for many years and now too (huge debt servicing costs now), a national birth rate < 1, baby boomers retiring and beginning to retire, runaway health care costs, huge dollars in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid fraud, etc.
So, in effect, inefficient government at all levels.
W and the GOP controlled Congress could have fixed the problems, but, politics and lobbying paybacks took precedence.
As a matter of fact, the GOP controlled Congress since 1996 has done little in those aspects.
I've had to curtail my retirement savings contribution percentages and my entertainment funds the last 3 years just to absorb the COL increases in energy, food, and taxes, despite 2 of 3 years with COLA raises.
25% of the entire federal budget is due to waste, unneeded spending programs, debt servicing, inefficiencies, and fraud.
What good is it to win a war abroad, only to have our nation's sovereignty utterly destroyed by an amnesty to 20 million illegals? This amnesty will happen whether the POTUS is Hillary, Obama, OR McCain, so it just doesn't matter.
I will not vote for any of them; I refuse to be party to the destruction of my country.
I salute your courage in pursuing a good cause.
You said:
And amnesty is irrevocable. Once the decision is made, it is final. Amnesty is forever. It is game, set, and match for this country.
I agree. I say, additionally:
Abortion is irrevocable. Once the decision is made, it is final. Death is forever. It is game, set, and match for the unborn.
No, the core premise is greed. Employers want a cheap, inexhaustible supply of exploitable labor, i.e., slave labor. There is a reason why the Chamber of Commerce and the WSJ are pushing amnesty bills. The US, the third most populous country on earth has the highest annual population growth rate in the world among developed countries, i.e., .89%. We will have a population of half a billion by 2060. We are at replacement rate right now, 2.1 total net fertility rate.
Abortion is not the reason why we are being overrun by illegal immigrants or legal ones for that matter. Employers are not willing to pay the kind of decent wages needed to hire Americans. There is a reason why construction workers and those at places like meat processing plants are being paid what they were in the 1970s. If there was a true labor shortage, wages would be higher. That is normally the way the market works.

I agree as well. But amnesty spells the end for the living and the unborn in the US as this nation descends into a third world socialist country. Amnesty will make the Dems the permanent majority party.
Please ping me later with your views from the CPAC conference! Thanks in advance!
I will try. It is going to be a struggle to just get in the room where McCain is speaking. Last year, when they had oversubscribed events, they had the event on closed circuit TV. My colleagues and I will try to camp out in the room hours ahead. We will have handouts and signs. I don’t think McCain will get a very warm welcome. It will be interesting to see how Keene and company try to handle the event given the very strong feelings everyone has about McCain. The MSM will all be there covering the feeding frenzy.
