Just reported on tv. Also said Romney to meet at campaign headquarters tomorrow to have "frank discussion" about future of campaign.
You're missing my point. The short term result of a brokered convention is likely to be what we have now. Hoewver, there may be a longer-term benefit to the GOP realizing that we aren't going to blindly get in line behind their chosen candidate anymore (which is what the existence of a brokered convenction proves). It won't be a magical turnaround for the GOP, but it could be a start.
LOL! Good luck and have fun.
But do look at the House and Senate candidates in your State and district, and please support the good ones, not just the AI ones.
“Of course, when a man strives to win a process measured by the level of trust, and confidence, and likability that people have in him”
Romney strove and accomplished in so many fields and ways to show his trustworthyness competence, and capability.
Romney polls well in the likeability and other scores. Of 9 candidates, he got more votes than any other candidate except McCain. Most people are not actually ‘creeped out’ by Romney and his success, nice family and positive attitude ..., only biased folks like you are. It speaks more about you than him.
“We can thank our Pres. and the party leadership for the condition the national Republican party is in now. There has been no compass, no glue nor shepards to keep us on track and headed in the same direction.”
So true.
I still think Bush should have let Cheny go after the second term and picked a good VP. Thanks again Bush.
With 10 million Mexicans soon to become citizens, it is time the GOP find a way to get some of there vote. Free Tacos?
I’m working on a nice long rant but I don’t know if it will help.
Do you think Huckabee has a reasonable chance of winning the nomination? I thought he would win back in December but now, it looks like a long shot.
You think the guy who has done the worst of anyone in state after state except for a mere handful of small primary rural states can win a General Election? The guy with the smallest delegate count should be considered the front runner?
Huckabee has no money, an incredibly weak political organization, has made screwy statement after screwy statement that National Media would use to eat me live in a General Election. You think Mr "The US should apologize to Pakistant because a terrorist assinated Bhutto" has the campaign skills to win a nation wide election?
Just how much have you had to drink today?
Politics is not a sporting event where you pick a team and mindlessly cheer for it no matter how bad it stinks.
Romney creeps people out. You are kidding are you not. You mean the nasty, vicious, vindictive, petty, arrogant, and not too bright McCain does not creep people out. How about the arrogant, ugly H.R. Clinton. Does she not creep people out. And the worst of all, the ugly, stupid freak Obama does he not creep you out. I guess when you are used to being around ugly people as so many are, a good-looking smart guy like Romney might creep you out.
Yes, I know. I’m thinking about potential long-term benefits, as I’ve stated several times. We have nothing to lose by taking this to the convention.
I'm related to them, too.
“Weren’t you just calling ME thin-skinned?”
Your defensive response proves me right. calm down and admit truth.
The House candidate in my district is a lock for the Republicans. The senate seat is squishy. Oregon. Ore-gone.
I think the election is rigged.
“I didnt. I said he should stay in the race and force a deadlocked convention. Now I say Romney should do the same. Hope he doesnt drop out. Praying for deadlock.”
It wont happen. McCain got more than 50% of delegates today.
He will win. Period.
It feels great to go indy but they’ll (gop)still call you to help and for donations. I give those telemarketers a call to remember but nothing more.
What do we gain by fighting this to the Convention?
Bingo! Pick up your prize at the door, you lucky winner! :)
I resigned. I have my morning mail waiting to go out with new registration. American Independent.
I agree. I have nothing against Romney. He would probably make a fine president. He certainly has the background that would recommend him to the position. On paper, he looks amazingly good.
But there is obviously something that people can't embrace. Perhaps it is telling that no other former candidate has endorsed him. Why? Giuliani picks McCain. Hunter picks Huckabee. No one likes Romney. And as a whole the voting populace will nudge up against him, but refuse to really get behind him, refuse to give him any momentum. There is just something lacking, whether it is his recent arrival to traditional conservative positions or just his general presentation. It is hard to put a finger on, but it just doesn't work to the degree necessary to win.
Right on-target, FRiend. I'm going to be working as hard as I can for conservative senators, representatives, governors and down-ticket folks.
“Romney strove and accomplished in so many fields and ways to show his trustworthyness competence, and capability.”
Romney had a very limited life, rich kid, rich college student, rich struggling businessman that successfully made him self very rich, rich politician ticket puncher, rich presidential candidate with no conservative past, rich ‘creepy’ ex politician.
