Just reported on tv. Also said Romney to meet at campaign headquarters tomorrow to have "frank discussion" about future of campaign.
We have a better chance of shaking up the GOP by revolting than we do by simply continuing to do the things that got us here in the first place (vote for the GOP lesser of two evils). To paraphrase Einstein, the definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.
And if the GOP refuses to listen, then it will continue to bleed membership on into irrelevancy.
“People should have seen the gem that Huckabee was after his Iowa victory”
Quit drinking the kooky koolaid for the Huckster. He’s a turd . He lost me with his 600 pardons, hug tax hikes and phoney-baloney Christian leader wink-and-nod. He’s the least ethical and least conservative, he’s a RINO.
We are all independent and self reliant. We fight like cats.
You’ll be back...
He was pretty good actually, but he is not a street fighter. And the President needs to know how to win a knife fight.
When people got to know him more personally, he had more traction. But I agree; he came close, but he muffed some important things.
The question is, does he really care and will he be back? Like Reagan came back after losing in 1976?
If he goes around the country after the debacle of the 2008 general election and does his best to rally Republicans back to conservative principles, then he will begin to earn his spurs.
I can't say for sure if under his business ad glitz that there is a real and decent man is true. I can only say I hoped so when I voted for him.
Is there no one up for election in the Senate that has upheld President Bush’s vetoes or voted against bad stuff put up by the Dems?
A candidate whose campaign is dead in the water is not “viable”.
CORRECT.
That is a description of Huckabee’s campaign. Dead in the water. Going nowhere. He’s a bad soft-on-crime tax-and-spend nonconservative Huckster who lost the most primaries today.
“Eventually spite dies away and then I know I can count on you to vote for your own self-interest.”
My self interest dictates that I do everything in my power to save the GOP from getting sullied by having Hucksterbee on the ticket.
Worst campaign ad ever for a candidate....Abolish the IRS. Freaked people out totally because it’s totally unbelievable.
No, Huckabee wins the red states where conservatives are able to recognize a conservative. Huckabee was/ and still is the best candidate to defeat Clinton, but many republicans missed that. Understandable. He was a second tier candidate from the start, with no money, and the MSM has completely ignored him the last two weeks. He is spot on when he talks about the two man race that was forced upon us, and he is correct when he says it is a two man race and he is in it.
Now your nominee will be a guy who has betrayed virtually every single one of your claimed Political Principals over the last 8 years. The only reason McCain hasn't screwed you on the 2nd Amendment issue yet is because it has not come up much during Bush's Presidency. But give him time.
Given McCain's track record on the 1st Amendment (McCain-Feingold) It pretty obvious McCain considers the US Constitution as nothing but a mere set of guideline to be ignored when he feels like it.
“I guess being brilliant does that to people who have an inferiority complex.”
Of course, when a man strives to win a process measured by the level of trust, and confidence, and likability that people have in him, and his score is that he ‘creeps them out’.
Then his local political activists explain that the American people suck because their inferiority keeps them from seeing his super brilliance, there could be trouble.
“And won’t Huck be surprised when McCain tosses him overboard and picks Guiliani as his running mate!
C’mon, Jim. You have to admit Guiliani stands a better chance of being the Republican VP choice than Huck. At least his kids don’t torture animals for kicks.”
Yeah.... that may indeed be the ‘ticket’.
I think Mccain would prefer a bigstate RINO, and Rudy is one.
Or
Crist or Pataki...
McCain doesnt need Huck, he’ll win Arkansas anyway.
Hah! Weren't you just calling ME thin-skinned?? My response was to someone who was slamming evangelicals for voting for Huckabee. My point was that if you're going to open up that can of worms, then it's fair game to point out that Romney won 89% of Utah, and most of his wins have been in heavily Mormon states. That's mere factual analysis, based on someone else's similar analysis of evangelicals. It's not "mormon crap" -- you sound like a leftist.
It's either off-limits to talk about Huckabee's and Romney's support among their co-religionists, or it's fair game to talk about both.
As to your comment that Romney won the California conservative vote, I would point out that he won the self-identified conservatives who weren't too disgusted by Romney, McCain and Huckabee to stay home. From the dismal turn-out, we know there were many conservatives in the latter group.
The only thing that separated us was that each side concluded that the other candidate couldn't be trusted. But it would be silly for either side to claim that his/her decision was absolutely positively correct.
Only the future will prove out which of us were correct and which were unluckily wrong in the man we chose for the last trench fight.
Or the future may show that both men were unworthy of our support.
Or maybe, happily for us all, that both men were worthy of our support.
Take it up with the American people.
If Romney and Huckabee somehow totaled 51%, Romney could offer to let Huckabee be the #1 instead of the #2 on the ticket. Not likely to happen, but it would at least stop McCain.
At last, someone found a way to make Bush look a little better.
If you want a deadlocked convention, Romney needs to exit. It is clear that Huckabee and Romney are splitting the conservative vote which gives McCain the edge in a lot of states including Texas. If Huckabee drops out, polls have shown that most of his support would go to McCain sweeping him to victory. If Romney drops out, it is possible that much of his support will vote against McCain. Its unlikely, though not impossible, that Huckabee would pass McCain and win the nomination, but its entirely possible that he would win many of the remaining states and keep McCain from getting the nomination.
“Finally someone who can think. You said it better than I could but I was thinking the exact same thing. The McCain, Huckabee people are dummer than dirt.”
Before you get too invested in this guy, read his short posting history and check his troll potential.
