Pure wishful thinking. Look at the polling data. The largest single chunk is self described "Conservatives". Liberals plus Moderates make up a slight majority. But Moderates are the smallest of the bunch. It a 38 Left-42 Right - 20 "Moderate" Country

After you lose the election in a 1980s style landslide and hand the keys to the White House and a 60 seat Senate to the Democrats, you can explain to us how moving another 35% father to the Left from Bush with McCain "because we have to win the moderates" was such a "brilliant" political move.

Romney actually did great, he got more votes than McCain did, has won almost as many states and votes as McCain.
