“Good grief. Tactically I would like Romney to limp along for a while to continue to split the vote, so we have a better shot at a brokered convention”.

A brokered convention will not bring an outside candidate in to save the day. Deals will be made to put McCain over the top. There is no fairy tale ending to the brokered convention scenerio.

The post was about GOP vs democrat turnout. That’s what I commented on. Your dismissal of four candidates all of whom plainly hold substantial conservative positions as “liberals” proves my point. Im sure there was someone who got 3% of the republican vote who you consider the “real” conservative. And that is why we probably will lose.

The problem with recent converts to conservatism is it is usally more believable when they are in their 30s or 40s not their 50s or 60s. that is why the campaign rhetoric of Mitt and Huck meant zilch to me.

<< will FR embrace Huckabee? >>

I hope not. I’ve been an ex-Romney supporter for about five minutes now, and I’m ready to back McCain. But not Huck.

I remember we all laughed at Clinton’s legacy - losing a Dem majority and the GOP getting all of Congress and the WH. Well W gave it back in the second term.

The GOP has no issues.

Everything conservatives and libertarians stand for, has already been banished.

Our supposed President, called us “vigilantes”.

Time for a new party. The GOP is going to lose.

Terribly.

Might as well start organizing right now, because the GOP is toast.

Thank you, evangelicals for votin’ fur the Christian, and thank you aging dolts for voting for the war hero. Identity politics will be the death of us all.

For every “identity” evangelical voter, you can times that by 2.67 or 3 as a multiplier re: Romney & his Mormon voter support.

Salt Lake City Tribune reporting: With nearly a quarter of the precincts reporting, Romney dominated with 88 percent of the [Utah] vote!

Can you believe that? (Pick out the most Evangelical state…and if 88% of that state voted for Huckabee, the MSM & Mittbots would freak out!)

Romney's "identity" politics is in some ways carrying him much further than Huck.

This is occurring on many different levels.

It’s happening at the vote level: Deseret News says Romney was getting “well over 80%”—Trib reporting 88% with ¼ of precincts reporting…Whereas, in Iowa Huckabee even tho he won he still only got 34% of the vote in a 60% Evangelical turnout. Almost 1 in 5 Evangelical Iowans voted for Romney...Can you imagine Romney only getting 34% in Utah? The 8-10% of Nevada LDS voters, who made up a quarter of the Nevada GOP, went 94% for Romney. (The LDS voters helped him to carry Wyoming). [Jeff Chandler]

It’s happening at the financial level: According to the Deseret News, 79% of the candidate $ raised in Utah is going Romney (which I figured was about 91% of the GOP candidate $ from Utah going to Romney). We can thank our Pres. and the party leadership for the condition the national Republican party is in now. There has been no compass, no glue nor shepards to keep us on track and headed in the same direction.

As much as I hate to say it but the Dems have done an exceptional job of doing what had to be done in order to win. It took them 8 years to do it but they did show us how it should be done. They beat us from within, letting us destroy ourselves.

Either we will do the same in the upcoming 8 years or a third party will arise to become a new force within American politics while the current party will become know as the Republicrats.

He wasn’t a viable choice with Hunter and Thompson in the race. But now, against McCain and Huck, he is. Was.

Well, maybe this will finally get conservatives to take stock of the situation in the GOP and grow a pair, so to speak.

“I have a question for yall that say he can’t....do you want him to beat McCain?”

Huckster is the worst. possible. candidate. in the field.

Nobody should want him to beat McCain. Given the choice between two RINOs, go with the one who can beat Hillary.

I’ll vote for Romney no matter what now.

Destructive seeds planted in the sixties are now flowering. It’ll be almost impossible to elect a conservative president again, for the following reasons:

1) The dumbing down of the population.

2) The dependency, effeminacy, and weakness of the population.

3) The results of the sexual revolution (dependent unwed mothers, irresponsible males, homosexuality).

4) Changing racial demographics.

5) Political Correctness, which makes it impossible to address numbers one thru four.
