we don’t allow his spiritual motivations to be private. As a poster on the earlier thread said, I don’t have any problem with people opposing Romney because he was governor of a liberal state, but sadly that is not the reason many have opposed him - which amounts strictly to bigotry

Bush’s pick of Cheney was wise because Dick had so much DC experience. Remember, W asked Cheney to head up his search for a VP. The more W worked with Cheney, the more he liked the wisdom he saw in Cheney. That, plus Cheney’s many years in the Congress and executive branch led W to choose Dick. I don’t believe the decision was a political calculation in terms of Cheney bringing a lot of votes to the ticket. Wyoming has 3 electoral votes. (Of course, in the 2000 race, 3 votes did mean a lot!)
