before Huckabees surprising turnaround in the second round, McCain delegates told FOX News they had been instructed by the campaign to throw their support to Huckabee.
McCain delegate John Vuolo said former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer approached him and other McCain supporters at the convention and told them he had spoken to McCain, and that the best thing to do was to support Huckabee in the hope that Huckabee could beat Romney in this winner-take-all state.
That account could add fuel to Romneys claim that Huckabee is only undercutting his support base, and that a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. Huckabee has fiercely denied that claim.
Romney Campaign Manager Beth Myers issued a statement after the West Virginia vote blasting McCain.
Unfortunately, this is what Senator McCains inside Washington ways look like: he cut a backroom deal with the tax-and-spend candidate he thought could best stop Governor Romneys campaign of conservative change.

Huckabee is now exposed as nothing more than a stalking horse for McCain.
Just HOW MANY threads on this are you gonna make??
For the Love !!
Which is why when he wins Alamaba or Georgia and takes delegates away from McCain you will post a retraction vanity thread??
The huckster exposed as a true con artist. We need to all hang stray dogs in his honor.
You are not seeing the big picture as to what is going on.
Its a corrupt process, fixed by the media, who have been shilling for McCain and Obama since Day 1.
This is a much more in-depth discussion of the events that took place.
So quit yer whinin’.
Huckabee has as much of a chance to win the nomination as Bob Dole does.
Cute. This is only a preview people.
Pray he doesn’t get into the WH.
That’s why most people vote after work out here on the left coast!
And an enthusiastic liar.

Karma for Fred in SC
Yes, McCain supporters wanted Romney to lose.
So they switched their votes to Huckabee.
How is that surprising? Do these idiotic Mitt-worshipers really think the McCain supporters would ever support the candidate who has constantly attacked McCain?
Sean Hannity just had Newt Gingrich on his show, and tried to get Newt to say Huckabee’s win in West Virginia was because of dirty tricks, and Newt basically said, there weren’t dirty tricks, that’s how things work.
And when Sean tried to get him to say that Huckabee should pull out to give Mitt a better chance, Newt tried to point out that a lot of Huckabee’s supporters would probably go to McCain over Mitt, but it seemed to be falling on deaf ears.
HUCKABEE / HUNTER 08
Only if Huck will make sure we escape punishment, by firing anyone who might bring charges against us.
“Huckabee is now exposed as nothing more than a stalking horse for McCain”
and maybe the Veep spot????
Newt Gingrich is another one of those guys who drank the global warming kool-aid.
There is not much that he says anymore that I agree with.
