> Jimmy Carter.

Ya GOT me there!

I almost forgot about Jimmah!

Wishful thinking I guess.

So Jimmah and George W. are the only openly-professing, born-again presidents in the last 100 years.

In my humble opinion, and for all his faults (he is, after all, human), George W is orders of magnitude more the man, and the Christian, that Jimmah every could be.

However, Mitt does not wear his faith on his sleeve.

When he was backed into a corner to defend his faith, his speech was second to none that I’ve heard on the subject of Faith in Public Life. In fact, it was a GREAT speech.

It moved me to tears, as it rang with sincerity and honesty.

Better than any mumblings ever delivered by mealy-mouthed Peanut Farmer and traitor to his country, James Earl Carter.

I do believe, that despite his flaws, and despite the fact that he is not a Christian in the Biblical sense, Mitt Romney is head and shoulders above ALL the others running for president.

And I voted for Duncan Hunter here in NH.

While it was a principled vote, I regret it, as I believe it hurt our best chance at having a conservative president, Mitt Romney.

While he was governor of Massachusetts, he may not have been conservative in the sense of what we call conservative, but he has risked ALL to admit his folly, admit that he has seen a better way, and pledge his heartfelt support for conservative ideals.

And I do believe it is heartfelt.

If he gets the Republican nomination, I will be able to vote for Mitt Romney without holding my nose, rather with confidence and assurance, even though he is not of the same faith as I.

Everybody I’ve heard who has met Mitt Romney have the opposite testimony of yours as to his level of arrogance.

I’m certain that you, as well as I, can be arrogant at times and sorry for it.

But everybody I’ve heard that has met Mitt and worked with and for Mitt never used the word, “arrogant”.

Maybe I missed something, but I submit that Mitt is our last best chance for the forseeable future.

Wow! That must be a message from the Lord. Why would both of us think of that passage at the same time?

I don’t think we would want a President who isn’t really a member of the Christian faith.

McCain sucks but at least he isn't a cultist.

Most GOP govs shun Romney

"There are plenty of reasons that might explain the former Massachusetts governor’s surprisingly weak support among his former colleagues. But one of them stands out: He appears to have inadvertently alienated a good many of his fellow governors as RGA chairman.

“Right or wrong, the general impression was that he spent way too much time on himself and building his presidential organization,” said a top Republican strategist who has worked closely with the RGA in recent years. “I don’t think anyone ever questioned Romney’s commitment to the organization or the work he put in. They questioned his goals or his motives. Was it to elect Republican governors, or to tee up his presidential campaign?”

Mitt Romney may not be considered a Christian by those of us who go by The Book and recognize Mormonism as a cult led by a false prophet

Absolutely correct.

Romney is, by my observation, more Godly than those, even some of us on this board, professing to be Christians!

Yes, cultists are tricky that way.

One wife, five children,

That we know of.

Not because one calls himself a christian is a christian.

Jimmy Carter does not live in such a way that espouses Christian virtue. He has usurped and sowed disrespect for GW’s authority every chance he could. That’s unbiblical. He left the Southern Babtist denomination because they would not ordain women, and that’s not biblical. He is a sanctimonious, self righteous ass, and that’s decidedly unbiblical.

I do not know Jimmy Carter's heart or his salvation status...I don't even know my own. I do know, however, by Jesus's own admonition that I am not qualified to judge. That is for the Lord to do isn't it?

I disagree. It could just be that people like other candidates more.

We don’t really know that everybody who has said “Romney” hate McCain, or that everybody who said McCain hate Romney.

I was supporting Fred Thompson AND Mitt Romney, but I still would have supported Duncan Hunter, so even though he only had 2% of the vote, it didn’t mean 98% hated him.

The amazing thing is that after winning 3 primaries, McCain still only registers 30-35% support. So I think it’s clear there are a lot of people who simply don’t want McCain.

If it were a two-man race, and the numbers were still 30-30, that would be a really bad sign.

Huckabee had 21%, but I don’t think that means 79% of republicans hate him.

Yes! And it should be spoken in the pulpits. I’m praying for God to raise up an independent who will snatch the votes - all to the bewilderment of the media - as He blesses our nation!

A liberty loving atheist patriot beats a big government liberal minister any day!

So well said! You are like a breathe of fresh air. God can change the heart of an atheist before he can w/one who is standing on his own righteousness. And it's apparent it's not God's righteousness because there is no fruit from one liberal minister.

Ha! Well you may not judge other people’s salvation status, but you certainly judge them rather harshly in everything else(judging you by your profile page). If Karl Rove is an American traitor ( by your definition), what does that make Dick Morris, Carville, Begala, et all? They dumped the Clinton Hydra on us.
