President Bush has maintained neutrality but privately expresses exasperation with Romney's hard-line stance on immigration......Bush is upset Romney changed his position at the expense of the president's immigration reform. Bush and McCain are not close, but he's grateful for McCain's support on Iraq and immigration.

Florida Gov. Crist's unexpected late endorsement, which helped propel McCain to victory, was an unpleasant surprise to state Republican leaders. Crist had said he was not making an endorsement after shunning Giuliani's courtship and suggested that they also stay neutral. His support for McCain irked Republican activists who generally would have preferred former Romney. Romney carried heavily Republican Collier and Lee counties in SW Florida by substantial margins.....voters McCain will have to win over if nominated.

Bush’s disastrous presidency has almost destroyed the conservative movement. McCain would take the worst qualities of Bush and double them. The fact that Bush doesn’t like Romney is a plus for Romney.

If Pat Buchanan had gotten 5% of the vote in 2000, the Reform Party might have been able to develop into a viable conservative alternative to the Republicans. As it is, it appears that McCain will be the successor to 8 years of Bush, and we will once again be told we need to vote for a liberal Republican to avoid Clintonism. And I am sure that, in the end, most people will be suckered once again into supporting a liberal Republican.

When Romney is changing positions, there is little consideration of other's expense. However, it does seem that he is on the right side of this issue for now. If he wins the nomination, we'll see what other revelations ensue.

No he has not, the POS anyways says we must secure the border and when the governor sign off on his brown paper bag we can proceed. Of course the next part would be a comprehensive amnesty.

That's exactly what I heard his plan to be in the last debate as well.

Huckabee just signed Jeff Sessions immigration pledge today. I think he will handle this problem differently as a President from what he did as a Governor.

The problem I see with voting for Huckabee at this time is that when he drops out, IF he endorses McCain - ALL of his delegates will go to McCain.

So if I voted for him, I could indirectly be voting for McCain. Huckabee seems to have more in common with McCain and has been attacking Romney lately, so I think that's the way he'd go with an endorsement.

Just as all those that voted for Hunter have effectively voted for McCain. McAmnesty now has all the Hunter delegates. That would make me sick if I voted for Hunter early on...

The press release is on Huckabee’s website. It definitely says “No Amnesty”.

McCain also says he's not for amnesty. And all the traitors that voted for SB2611 said they were not for amnesty. Better check their deifinitions before cheering them on.

“No vote is ever thrown away” Unfortunately, yes it is.

A vote can be even worse than 'thrown away' in a primary. It can go to a candidate one would never consider voting for. For example, if I vote for Huckabee and he wins delegates, but later down the road decides to quit the race - whoever he endorses gets ALL his delegates! Therefore, I would've effectively voted for McCain. (That's most likely who he would endorse.)
