WASHINGTON - Mullah Omar and other Taliban leaders are directing insurgency operations in Afghanistan from the Pakistani city of Quetta, while al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is operating from Pakistan's tribal areas, a senior U.S. administration official said on Friday.
Bin Laden, his deputy Ayman al-Zawahri and others are operating out of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan, the official told reporters on condition of anonymity. "Just as Mullah Omar is giving strategic direction for the Taliban from Quetta, al Qaeda senior leadership is in the FATA doing its planning," the official said, without giving the source of the intelligence.
"The iconic leaders of al Qaeda -- Zawahri, bin Laden and people like (Abu Laith) al-Libi are in the tribal areas of Pakistan," the official added. Libi was killed in January in a suspected U.S. missile strike in Pakistan's North Waziristan border area.

Bomb found in Sultan Kudarat Inn

COTABATO CITY, Philippines -– Authorities on Thursday seized a bomb tucked under a hotel bed in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat and arrested two suspects, police said Friday.
As of posting time, Senior Inspector Fernando Dialogo, Isulan police chief, declined to name the suspects. But Dialogo said the bomb was discovered 8:30 a.m. Thursday by a worker of the Clarita Lodging House while cleaning the room being occupied by the suspects. The hotel staff immediately informed authorities about the find, Dialogo said.
He said the bomb, fitted with a timer, was placed in a large shoebox and was hidden under the bed when recovered. It was fashioned out of 81-millimeter mortar shell, similar to the ones that exploded in Central Mindanao last year.

FBI Director Robert Mueller and former Attorney General John Ashcroft have called Adnan el-Shukrijumah “the next Mohammed Atta,” who represents “a clear and imminent danger to all Americans.”
Shukrijumah’s face has appeared on the front pages of newspapers and every televised news outlet throughout the United States and Canada.
Sure would be nice if his head would turn up on platter
