Criticism In Iran: Too Much Economic Aid To Palestinians

In an interview with the Iranian opposition daily Etemad-e Meli, Hossein Mar’ashi, spokesman of the Kargozaran party, which supports Hashemi Rafsanjani, said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was not elected because of his statements about Israel and the Holocaust, and that “for years, sentiment has been widespread among the Iranian public that Iran is paying funds to the Palestinians in vain.”

He also stated that the Iran’s problems with the Arabs are greater than those with other peoples.

In response, Iranian Committee for Supporting the Intifada in Palestine director-general MP Ali Akhbar Mohtashemi-Pour said that anyone who thinks that economic aid to the Palestinians causes discomfort among the Iranian public is not familiar with the Iranian Revolution. He added that Iran had no problem with the Arab nations, but rather with the Arab regimes that collaborate with Israel.
