“Sadr confirms extension of Mahdi Army cease-fire”

I think Sadr realized that he would be signing a death warrant if he didn’t ‘extend’ the cease fire. Plusses on two fronts - 1. He knows he doesn’t have the forces to stand against the meat grinder that would hit them and 2. No longer has the political backing or an unstable gov’t that he can use his milita to leverage against.
