After years of failed diplomacy and limited military pressure to restrain Saddam Hussein, President Bush made the difficult decision to liberate Iraq. Those who criticize that decision would have us believe that the choice was between a status quo that was well enough left alone and war. But there was no status quo to be left alone.
The years of keeping Saddam in a box were coming to a close. The international consensus that he be kept isolated and unarmed had eroded to the point that many critics of military action had decided the time had come again to do business with Saddam, despite his near daily attacks on our pilots, and his refusal, until his last day in power, to allow the unrestricted inspection of his arsenal. Our choice wasnt between a benign status quo and the bloodshed of war.
It was between war and a graver threat. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Not our critics abroad. Not our political opponents.
And certainly not a disingenuous film maker who would have us believe that Saddams Iraq was an oasis of peace when in fact it was a place of indescribable cruelty, torture chambers, mass graves and prisons that destroyed the lives of the small children held inside their walls.
Whether or not Saddam possessed the terrible weapons he once had and used, freed from international pressure and the threat of military action, he would have acquired them again.

I know which country I love...do YOU?!!
I served it in uniform...did YOU?!
Oh, pleeeeeeze are you the noise here?
To paraphrase Shakespeare, he is a man, take him for all in all. The John McCain who is against some things you may be for, and for some things you may be against, is also the very same person who is for some things that you are for, and against some things that you are against.
John McCain is also the senator that liberal Democrats come to when they want a senator from the Republican side of the aisle. For instance: McCain/Feingold (limits free speech); McCain/Kennedy (amnesty); McCain/Lieberman (50 cents per gallon gas tax increase).
Senator McCain’s pro-illegal immigration stance would hurt our national security, as border security is national security. Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders.
I will vote Republican if there is one on the ballot. Bullies never win and you are not going to bully me into a fake Republican.
I did not serve. Is your vote more important than mine? Nope. Is you opinion have more weight than mine? Nope.
You’re pretty full of yourself aren’t you? That usually causes problems when left untreated.
“Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders.”
Are you suggesting we must close our Canadian border, too? How do you suggest we do that?
He is an angry old man.
“I did not serve. Is your vote more important than mine? Nope. Is you opinion have more weight than mine? Nope.”
What you say is true, but I think you’d be surprised by the high level of respect for McCain among most (albeit not all) military people and veterans. The so-called “true conservatives” now publicly bashing him might want to consider this.
Whatever it takes.
Do you lock both your front door and back door at night?
Why not just lock your back door. That is where the bad guys will come in./sarc
Of course we should have secure borders to our north and our south.
We know about 911 terrorists coming from the north, but did you know this?
Iraqi terrorists caught along Mexico border
WorldnetDaily ^ | 08/24/2007
President Bush’s top intelligence aide has confirmed that Iraqi terrorists have been captured coming into the United States from Mexico.
The confirmation comes from National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell, who talked about the situation in an interview with the El Paso Times recently.
“Coming up through the Mexican border is a path,” McConnell said. “Now, are they doing it in great numbers? No, because we’re finding them and we’re identifying them and we’ve got watch lists and we’re keeping them at bay.”
But, he said, “There are numerous situations where people are alive today because we caught them (terrorists).”
Intelligence officials say the numbers and details of such situations are classified, but McConnell pointed as an example to Mahmoud Youssef Kourani, who entered the United States through Tijuana, Mexico, in 2001, and later pleaded guilty to helping raise money for Hezbollah, which has been designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization.

But my question was, how do you suggest we close off the Canadian border?
“I think youd be surprised by the high level of respect for McCain among most (albeit not all) military people and veterans.”
Maybe so, and we all respect McCain for his service, but does that give him a license to ruin our country?
Is your vote more important than mine? Nope. Is you opinion have more weight than mine? Nope.
“Anyone who will not stand up and stop the Rat commies from gaining the Presidency is a low down, worthless traitor.”
You are SO right, this is why we are fighting that RAT turd McAmnesty as hard as we know how.
Thank you, Herr Hauptsturmführer! To which reeducation camp do I report?
Consider that the only Americans to have memorials in Vietnam to them are Jon Cary and John Mccain.
It is a memorial to his Prisoner of War days. Why would they honor him with a memorial?
It has to be because he helped them when he was there.
