Sorry Jim but there will be no brokered convention. By following your vision, McCain and Huckabee combined will have enough for the nomination and sure as the sun rises Huckabee will throw his delegates to McCain. That doesn't guarantee a VP nod but admittedly the chances are good. My best guess would be if McCain felt he needed a different VP for whatever reason Huckabee will be guaranteed a nice comfy Cabinet position.
Bottomline: wrong strategy, worse result.
I agree that a McCain/Huckabee deal is shaping up. But my understanding of the rules is that after the first ballot the delegates are unpledged and can vote for whomever they want. Huck can ask his delegates to then support McCain, and perhaps many or most would, but Huckabee has no power to direct how they vote. And we would have four or five months to publicly campaign for some other deal between the primaries and the convention.
Botton line. None of the candidates still running have my vote or the votes of many others.
You can simply give up now, because you’ll NEVER get these guys elected without us, or you can push for a plan that may turn out better than what we look at now.
Have it your way. You won’t get my vote, pure and simple.
