My point on Romney is that he spending the money and cannot win a contested Republican primary. Why would anyone think he could mount an independent campaign? I doubt he could do much better than Pat Buchanan in 2000.

Romney will not be part of a third party movement.

He could conceivable run again in 2012 should McCain win the nomination and go down in flames in the general.

I should have explained myself better. I agree with you re: a third party run. I have heard the 10:1 spending comment often from others as a critism of Romney and I do not believe it is that simple, as I noted earlier. Sorry about that.

Have we even had a Republican primary yet? According to CNN, 20% of the people voting in the GOP primary in Florida were either Democrats or Independents.
